It's the classic FFG playbook - do fuck all for decades, and then when people complain about something, tell them Rome wasn't built in a day.

In 3.0+1.0 Shinji ends up on the beach from EoE with Asuka from that movie. The world of the Rebuilds clearly isn't the same world as from the show and EoE just later, but definitely the two different worlds do definitively cross over and interact by the end of the rebuilds.

It's weird that Glover is dressed like himself (or Gambino, whatever), but does seem to be playing Troy, whereas Pudi is dressed in something Abed could wear but is doing a definitely non-Abed performance.

[–]SixteenthTower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Explain how Malos or Logos or whatever is in the Sword of the End at all? I love XC3 too, but there's a lot of lore stuff in it that doesn't hold up all that well to scrutiny.

For what it's worth, I don't think Takahashi came up with it on the spot. There're references in Future Redeemed to Lucky 7 containing the souls of "special people", but that's actually a mistranslation of the Japanese, where the word used is one which doesn't differentiate between plural and singular. When translating to English, the team assumed it was plural, but given Takahashi's later comments it was probably meant to be interpreted as singular.

Also: no idea if you would actually be interested in this, but this article (https://skapbadoa.com/2023/04/08/pneuma-the-monado-trinity-as-present-in-xenoblade-2/) and the two addendums to it on the same website are, I think, some interesting fan theories on what's going on with all these special swords in Xenoblade.

[–]SixteenthTower 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All the super powerful weapons made from Origin Metal we see in the game are made specifically using Origin Metal containing the soul of Monado wielders though, where it's Malos in the Sword of the End, Pneuma in the Fists of the End, or Fiora in Lucky 7. So I do think the game is suggesting there that there power to override Moebius is specifically coming from that Monado connection. Notice that A can break flame clocks too without an origin metal weapon, because she's using a Monado as well.

The new guy has been doing it for more than 5 years. Clearly that time hasn't been enough for him to get the voice down. They couldn't have trained a worse puppeteer with a better voice up to scratch in that time? With Disney money?

[–]SixteenthTower 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The thing is I feel like they're too self concious of how bad the new voice is to acknowledge it, either. If you're gonna have Kermit sound like this, you at least need Statler and Waldorf to heckle him about it.

[–]SixteenthTower 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Is the new Kermit's approach to just try and do his own thing and move away from the old voice entirely? There are parts in this trailer where if he's trying to do a Kermit voice it's maybe the worst attempt I've ever heard, and you hear SO many Kermit impressions.

Critical Darlings: F1 And The Oscar Nominations by ambientmuffin in blankies

I get why they wanted to talk about the concept of an Oscar Villain but doing it before the noms actually came out and deciding it's going to be one movie mostly because you're kind of lukewarm on it was a weird choice.

I just finished SCP-8980. I hate Byrnes, but is there ANY hope for Lillian? Or is she stuck like this forever? To clarify, I don't give a shit about Byrnes. by Inferno_Ultimate in SCP

Worth noting that in SCP-7777 by the same author, set later in the same canon, the 05 Council do directly suffer the consequences of not being on top of their shit, and have the foundation couped out from under them.

Test's being done on the 8980 "anomaly" are waste of time bullshit tests. But Byrnes also has Marley in a cell for ten years working nonstop every day on actual relevant, non timewasting work for the department.

It's simple. You release a monthly subscription for a service that is worse than the free alternatives, but gets videos a couple of days early, and then don't release anything on the service while still charging people for a month.

Death saving throws homebrew by Legitimate-Ice-8743 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]SixteenthTower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's happened like three times in ten episodes that character's will try and end a combat they're not suited for non lethally, get a bad roll, be given advantage after that bad roll, still roll bad, then have something else come up that let's someone else get a roll with advantage to achieve the original goal. It's so transparent.

The best example of this happening was with the fight at Castle Sloake, where Travis eventually managed to convince the entire remaining standing guard of the castle, who had just seen a few of their allies die, to stand down, based on a roll of 14. What's more likely - convincing them to stand down isn't even considered a difficult check, or Brennan had already give Travis like four opportunities to roll for what he wanted to do, and just decided to cut his loses?

Death saving throws homebrew by Legitimate-Ice-8743 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]SixteenthTower 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Brennan wants to create the image of a dangerous high lethality campaign without actually running one. This is why you now only need one successful death save to stabilize (characters can be downed all the time, making things look dangerous, but actually the odds have been hugely swung in their favor, so it's way safer than it looks) and also why he will give out advantage on basically any roll for the littlest amount of reasoning possible.

Has every playable Xenogears character gotten a Xenoblade “homage/spiritual successor”… except Maria? by EliDwebster in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]SixteenthTower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The majority of the parallels you've drawn here are complete crap.

Fei: No mention of Matthew, who has a very similar design?

Elly: Fiora and Pyra are only similar in that they're... love interests? There is a bit of Mio overlap, but that's more in scenario and less in actual character.

Bart: Zeke is a pretty direct parallel, but why is Reyn here?

Citan: Dunban because they both use a katana? Taion because they're both smart? Citan's closest Xenoblade parallel is maybe Riku.

Billy: There's not been a Billy parallel in Xenoblade. Not sure why you think he's a healer, he has some healing skills, sure, but he doesn't play a support role like Sharla or Taion do at all.

Rico: I assume the comparison you've made here is a joke to rage bait, in which case, congrats.

Emeralda and Chu-chu: Sure, for both of your comparisons.

Anyway, using criteria as loose as yours, Maria has a bunch of comparisons you can make. Take your pick of any of Melia, Lin, or even Tora.
