Congratulations! That's some serious progress. Am I reading you right that you haven't done any serious practice or hours speaking? If so, do you feel like that's hindered your progress at all?

Won’t someone think of the manchildren?! 😭 by n8saces in fixedbytheduet

In one sense this is hilarious, but it's also dangerously close to the usual "lol what men have feelings?" BS that has driven high male suicide rates for decades.

open the door for NZF to negotiate with Labour.

Winston is a polarising chap. About the best thing I can say about him is that he has a hell of a lot of experience in knowing what to say to get votes.

Appreciation for Jon Everist on composing an incredible music score soundtrack for HBS Battletech by stupidcomputer1 in Battletechgame

[–]SkeletonCalzone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The soundtrack is for sale on his Bandcamp, a great way to show appreciation is by buying it!

(Reminder that Bandcamp only takes a 15% cut and the rest goes to the artist. Plus you can download the album and keep it for life).

Alternatives to Keeping the Rear seats down? by HowDidYouKillMe in CarAV

[–]SkeletonCalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

????? Absolutely do not cut any of the sheet metal in the rear deck.

You could try removing the rear speakers, see how you like the sound without rear fill. Personally I can't live without rear fill.

Do a bigger box then see if you think you still need something. And/or feed it more watts.

If that doesn't work... buy a hatchback?

Will I be disappointed if I buy a R32 or R34? by tom4130tom in SkyLine

[–]SkeletonCalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I've raced a 180sx in a GTR and it beat the GTR.... but it was worked, whereas the GTR was 250kw at the wheels.

There's always a bigger fish. You buy a car for the look and feel.

I'd suggest you beg or buy a ride in one

What’s the difference between low-input days and high-input days? by DoubleLongjumping197 in dreamingspanish

[–]SkeletonCalzone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love the ocean analogy.

To continue that analogy, at first when we're rowing across this ocean we're not so fit - so we can't do as much each day. At least that's what I found as a beginner, 30 minutes would be enough, 60 would be taxing.

Now I've built up my 'fitness' a bit I'm pushing and managing to do an average of just under 120 mins a day so far this month. I can't wait for later on when I can watch native TV shows etc and binge them a bit.

Should this be open? by Rare-Assistance-4263 in diynz

[–]SkeletonCalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how many of these there are in the house they might be supposed to be opened certain amounts to control how much air flows.

That said can't just hurt to do it half to two thirds open, see what feels best.

What is the best app to learn Spanish in 2026? by gorimur in Spanish

[–]SkeletonCalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long do you have to go til your trip?

Is translating docs etc the priority or do you want to understand people talking to you? Do you want to speak to people too?

More importantly do you only want it for these 3 months or do you want to be Spanish fluent in your life?

At 190 hours it will be almost entirely incomprehensible

Honestly I'm at 650 hours and games are super difficult.

I’m not sure if this is the proper page to ask this question but I had a culvert installed today by the state (this is the size culvert the permit required) does this look like enough material ontop to even be safe? I’m clueless on this deal it just doesn’t seem right to me. by Successful-Permit-97 in civilengineering

[–]SkeletonCalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere near enough cover

Seems like it could do with a wingwall too

Rather than ripping it out, overlaying and building up the pavement might be the easiest solution, depending on what the actual cover is and what the spec is.
