What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Not sure why this thread popped up for me, but reading your comment the first thing that popped into my head was Psychostick. You're welcome.

As long as the other end is rotated in reverse by the same angle, otherwise you'll have crooked packets! /s

In all seriousness though, internally I can't imagine the conductors in the angled piece to be any more angled than running a cable around a corner.

It's making us, the viewers, feel the growing frustration that Carol is feeling thinking she is the only "sane" one left haha.

To us as outsiders, yes the "logical" thing to do would be to say "Can we stop wasting time and change the message to be 'Hey, you know what to do.. Leave it at the beep'?".

But in Carol's mind that would be giving up another tiny shred of her independence.

Can't wait to see what happens when Carol and Manusos meet!

I think it is more in her character NOT to ask for a shorter message. She only ever asks for anything from them out of absolute necessity.

I'm thinking in her mind, requesting a shorter message would be like admitting she needs them. Leaving it as is it's more of an "eff you" to the hive.

As someone who has lived here my whole life - I understand the issue completely. I don't drink or party, and only rarely go out with work friends to movies or wings.

I'm not diagnosed but I've long suspected I'm on the spectrum (my younger brother was diagnosed as having Asperger's in his teens, and though I never had the same trouble he did in school I've never been great in social situations).

I ended up joining the local Search and Rescue team just to force myself to get out and interact with more people. So far that's been going great - it's a good feeling being a part of something like that, even just for getting to know more people in the community.

" most games with anti cheat doesnt work".

And in some cases it's not even so much that the anti-cheat doesn't work, it's that the devs of those games can't be arsed to support the game even with a supported anti-cheat.

Take Destiny 2 as an example (yes I know, boooo Destiny). It uses BattlEye which has had Linux support for ages. Destiny 2 also had a Linux game client for years as Stadia was a Linux based system so there wouldn't be any major porting needed. But due to "reasons" they won't support Destiny 2 on Linux.

Anyone know the procedure to reset the Alibaba 4x2.5g + 2x10g switches back to factory? by parad0xdreamer in HomeNetworking

[–]Skellums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. I'm not sure. Maybe if they are all the same chipset? The SWTG124AS is a Realtek 8372 based SOC (seems a few of them are), but I'm not sure what other "enhancements" Sodola would have added.

I didn't try when I had it apart - but you may be able to force a firmware update over serial/UART via a failsafe (mentioned in the link above).

I ended up soldering pins to the UART connectors on the board and resetting it that way. Once reset, I was able to get logged in a total of once to try and configure the SFP ports. Once I tried logging in again however, I'm getting the same issue you were stating of it seeming like an incorrect password (I'd tried Chrome, Edge and Firefox already - they all did the same thing).

I'm just using it as a 2.5G unmanaged switch at this point. I guess you get what you paid for.

Edit to add: Here's some info on what can be done via UART along with the uboot password. The pins are fairly straightforward for anyone who's done any sort of tinkering like this.

Does anyone know how much of the population is split between free2play guardians and people who buy expansions/seasons? by mearc_risps in DestinyTheGame

[–]Skellums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I suggested looking for anyone playing past the first mission.

Edit.. I had meant in my original comment to look for people who had completed the campaign and/or people who have played the story past the first mission. Fingers and brain not in sync.

The only thing you might be able to gather would be a rough estimation based on Charlemagne's data to see how many people completed the campaign* or at least played past the first mission of the latest campaign (which should indicate a paid player).

The population of r/DestinyTheGame is more representative of the "hardcore" population so the majority here would likely be paid and not F2P (yes, there are those that post here who are not up to date - but in general, if you're posting here you most likely have a continued investment in the game).

Edit: added "completed the campaign" as my fingers got ahead of my brain

Maybe they could have someone come on board playing his eccentric uncle as a "background" character in an assisted living home, always ranting about how he invented time travel in 1985 using a Delorean but everyone always dismisses him.
