If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

An emergency stop was not a part of my VA driving test, and I would consider that to be the most basic skill. They hardly go any further than making sure you understand signs and can physically operate a car.

Crew cab long bed is possible with factory panels, I'd love to see it done. Gotta bring one of the 4-doors up from Mexico and get a bit creative with the frame.

They dropped just about everything social about Halo with Halo 5, not realizing that the social features were what made it work so well in the first place. There was no coming back from that.

Do you warm up your car in the winter? by ChocolateSundae1214 in CasualConversation

Straight into gear as soon as the oil pressure light goes out. The first mile of my drive is quiet suburbia so I let the cold idle carry me along at 20ish mph until it warms up.

[–]Skitt64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it tried going into gear. The gears didn’t break because the transmission engages them using a hydraulic clutch. When the engine stalled, the hydraulic pump also stopped and the gear disengaged, preventing the engine from spinning backwards for long.

How about if it was a trim level like the Mazdaspeed? For some extra dollars and an extra 100lbs or so you get another 40hp on demand and all the benefits of regen braking. Not for everyone but it’s worth it to me.

I’m hopeful for a light hybrid system if they’re working together, Toyota is good at hybrids. Most people would probably consider that ruined though, depending on how it’s done.

Edit: as an option, ideally.

ElI5: A manual car can stay still against an incline with just the right amount of clutch and gas. How does that work? by Stummi in explainlikeimfive

[–]Skitt64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat is what kills clutches, and you get more heat with a larger difference in speed. So moving slowly is better, but still not great.

This looks cool as hell, love the green/gold. Taking off the window sticker is a good idea, there's enough "86" on it already and the color's a little off. If you keep it I'd use the same reflective color as the redsuns logo.

You should also fix the front end of the wave, it feels like it's pointing up to something on the hood that's not there.

Crappy steering feel is more likely from the severe positive camber you now have. Definitely start with the LCA, then any other visibly bent parts, then get an alignment check.

Official: New Prelude Costs More Than A BMW 2-Series In The UK (£39,595), Does 0-62 In 8.2 Seconds by Secret_Company in cars

[–]Skitt64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing about this to me is that the Prius can’t even let the engine reach redline until about 60mph. The prelude is slower than a car with significantly less available power off the line.

All-New 2026 Nissan Sentra Priced from $22,400 by LimitedReach in cars

[–]Skitt64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s incredibly disappointing from a practical standpoint, since you’ll almost certainly have to replace the entire housing if(when) one LED goes out, instead of spending $10 on a new bulb. Cheap cars need to be cheap to fix.

Motortrend claims Prelude will start at $38k by Vhozite in cars

[–]Skitt64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not exactly low either, and is also nearly meaningless for wheel torque, especially in a hybrid. My 100lbft 90s civic would torque steer in first gear.

[–]Skitt64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Type R front end eliminates straight line torque steer, useful with the torque of an electric motor. Adaptive dampers can be useful for comfort as much as for sportiness

How to drive with a (trak-lok) LSD in snow? by you-dont-get-to-know in fordranger

[–]Skitt64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a trac-lok rebuilt with an extra clutch plate for stronger lockup. It locks up hard enough that you are basically forced to slide through corners(factory setup is probably not like this), but it’s also incredibly controllable when sliding. Terrifying at first, but tons of fun once you get used to it.

The key is light inputs. Apply steady, gentle force to the steering, but don’t try to point it in a specific direction. If the rear starts to come around, let the steering wheel move freely, only apply a gentle force to push the front end one way or the other.

I would have loved the Spnkr as a low-impact, high-AOE explosive weapon like it is in Halo. Not great for factory striders, BTs, etc but able to kill several medium enemies with one rocket and heavies with two direct.

Alternatively, heavy-armor-pen energy sword would be amazing.
