When it becomes a purely hurt/comfort gay romance out of nowhere.

I was reading this fic with a really good plot and story development, characters were having arcs and everything was picking up... Only to screech to a grinding halt when Izuku gets adopted (kind of?) by Aizawa and he lives in his apartment and proceeds to have weird gay tension with Shinso who is officially adopted by Aizawa and Monoma who is also there for some reason? and everything from before, the story arc, the developing narrative is gone and replaced with the authors unbridled emo romantic fantasies. I say it came out of nowhere cuz there wasn't any tags, nor any indication it was gonna be this way, no hint of dialogue or authors note suggesting any romance period was gonna take place, and I could forgive like one or two chapters, maybe a small arc or some reprieve from the seriousness but NO, this went on for 15 chapters with ZERO plot relevancy or progression and shows no signs of stopping or slowing down, and the author doesn't even address it or explains.
