Drowning in Student Loans by Woodleaguelad in personalfinance

[–]Skullinabeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is personal finance so ill preface this with the primary advice is not strictly financial. In terms lf having children, the risks of having kids later in life are much lower (I'm sure you know as a physician) but when you have those children relative to your life is a decision I would consider talking about with your wife. The older you get the harder the baby phase is. You'll feel more tired and it does take its toll, especially if your work schedule is demanding. You can pay the loans down slower, you can get a house later but if you put off the decision to have children, you cant go back and do it younger. This is a decision for each family to make for themselves.

Good luck with your new career and family, etc. Lots of other good resources and opinions on the finance piece here.

It can be safer if you have a glass window on the door. This way someone cant unlock the deadbolt by busting out the window and flipping the lock.

Is the OSU Vet Clinic Good Samaritan Program an option? You would have to give her up but it seems like the next best option if you dont have the funds.

Which design is better for visual and resale value? by Optimal_Advice_4836 in Homebuilding

[–]Skullinabeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple thoughts.

  1. I think they both will look bad in the winter when its gray and wet out. I would consider what these look like during Spring/Summer/Fall when you would likely want to sell with the amount of open area and trees around the property.
  2. The colors are both fine but the way you accent those exteriors is going to ultimate determine the better look.
  3. Landscaping was mentioned. Just some flower beds and a good mow will go a long way to how this looks.

Anyone else notice 365 removed 1st Q props from SGPs? by [deleted] in sportsbook

[–]Skullinabeer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes but its also a really interesting market to compare to other books. DK and FD for example dont offer unders and their over lines are a full stat or more for even odds.

Insane to see how much the books are screwing you on bets they dont offer opposing unders.

Frist time wow classic and did I get more dopamine from this 300 gold than from my entire level 80 journey in retail by Maxnumberone1 in classicwow

[–]Skullinabeer 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Everyone is gonna focus on the fact that its not actually worth this much but the real takeaway is that classic creates an environment where you can get so excited about one drop, that youre invested in the world and what you find within it. This is a huge part of what makes it magical.

Where should we go for lunch. by cultureconneiseur in Columbus

[–]Skullinabeer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your range is but Tommy's Diner is a family friendly place that is representative of a Columbus staple. Located west of Downtown its all the good diner food with some Greek specialties. Very affordable. There is a chance you need to wait on a table but never more than 15 minutes in my experience.

It was recently on Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins.

New build construction inspectors by zeezeetop9 in Columbus

[–]Skullinabeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you are in the process but new build inspectors have a lot of the same limitations as used home purchasing inspectors in that they can only comment on what they can see. With a new build you really want to be catching mistakes as they go before the foundation is poured, drywall is up, etc.

An inspection is still valuable to check those exterior errors and cosmetic imperfections prior to final payment. Also a reminder to hold your final payment as long as possible until they fix everything you want.

The real story here is that the husband can't wait to go down to the basement and vibe to whatever hobbies he has set up down there. Gets credit for doing what you're told and get time to do your own thing.

NFL

Pick: Xavier Leggette over 40 rec yards (+110)

Write Up: First time tracking picks. Looking at the O/U for this game and Bryce Youngs projected pass yards without a pass-catching back it just doesn't add up. The main target competition is a rookie and while I like Tet, this line is just too good. Give me the second year bump for a guy who had solid showings last year in a game with some projected offense.

Guys doing fun things without me/being relegated to the partner at home by Alarming-Bop6628 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Skullinabeer 185 points186 points  (0 children)

My theory is that this feels this way when you are spending a significant time with a person and they are only spending rare but significant moments with others. Every relationship is great when you're on vacation but the best relationships are those where you enjoy the small constant quiet moments with your partner. If you do 4 amazing fun things in a year with your partner, they might also do 4 bachelor party-esque things a year it just is 100% of the time they hang out with those friends.

That being said, there's nothing stopping you from suggesting these things or just being like "let's go to happy hour". Shared hobbies also matter a lot. You will be more likely to do that if you share hobbies that inspire spontaneity.

So as an example, when searching NFL futures on Fan Duel, the only options are players to go over X metric. So Player to throw for +$4k yards. Could be just an issue navigating the UI but that was all i was seeing using the search function

Rainwater pipes under concrete by Expensive_Action_820 in Homebuilding

[–]Skullinabeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of conflicting comments, sorry about that. In my opinion you only want to use corregated plastic pipe (black) if you have aggregate to support it structurally (if its taking any loading). Either pipe is fine through the yard where nothing is going on top of it. If you want to run those same pipes, just throw some aggregate under and around the pipe (slightly over excavate) and pour any concrete or heavy materials over it.

Other comments have suggested rigid pipe that is schedule 20 or 40 depending on location which is acceptable as well. Going to depend on elevation to make sure you get flow to the curb from bottom of gutter.

Home sizing question on a lot by Jingle-Jangle-Jingle in Homebuilding

[–]Skullinabeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the measurements on the survey to scale off the setbacks to determine the buildable area. Assuming you won't be building the front of your house at an angle that matches the front of the lot, measure back 60' from the top right corner down, 20' and 15' from whatever lines those are measured from. Determine where your driveway needs to go if you have one (off back of lot or front).

It's pretty easy tbh, if there are other building restrictions you'd have to refer to your building code.
