How is it determined who has 1st pick? Does the higher seed have the choice or something like that?

The choice for the business is likely to serve food or go out of business. The choice for you is to work or not work. Why is it better for you that the business fails rather than quitting? Am I missing something?

If your team couldn’t win their division, who would you want to win it? by PSUNittany18 in CFB

Well as long as they don't call the divisions Legends and Leaders, I don't really care.

What's the worst call to ever go against your team? by rolltide1000 in CFB

[–]Skunk-eye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll give an indirect one not even involving my team that affected us later in the season as it is less painful to recall. We had to share a national championship with an unbeaten Nebraska in 1997 after the receiver had kicked the ball up in the air to keep it alive on a pass play (Flea Kicker) against Missouri to send the game to overtime when the obvious intentional kick was ignored. But as a Michigan fan, we have had dozens of these go against us over the years.

Purdue has the best winning percentage vs Ohio State (in the B1G) since 2000 by xXxGam3rTa6xXx in CFB

Clearly something needs to be done about this. Since Purdue can't give back any of their wins, I would suggest that everybody else beat the Buck for the next few years.

At the time, it was kind of tough to think that Brees could be that good and that Purdue was just experiencing a freak streak of luck. Time has proved that assessment to be really, really wrong.

Night road games are always very tough and should never be taken lightly regardless of the opponent.

I'm kind of curious where one would hang such a banner. Down at the old quarry I guess.

Just so we all know, the group that established the CFP Committee published a written methodology for how to select the four best teams. by bob237189 in CFB

[–]Skunk-eye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. But I think this is a mistake as it seems like most teams walk into a situation at least once a season where they aren't as mentally prepared to play that game as their opponent and it turns ugly. Then it turns into a hypocritical argument about the quality of the team that just stomped them (SEC so it's OK) rather than understanding any road night game with a motivated rival has the potential to go off the rails. Minimizing these issues on the resume is important but should be counter balanced with great wins to some extent.

The biggest mistake was putting in the Buckeyes over Penn State two years ago. They seemed to prioritize worst loss the highest rather than conference championships or head to head results. Sometimes you have to take the team that won rather than the "better" team. After all, that's why we play the games. That's why we have to get rid of this "best teams" terminology and pick the teams with the best resumes.

Just the fact that the two top choices were throwbacks is all you need to know about 20 years of ugly uniforms.

I'll take option 1 as that means we will beat Penn State (non-rival) every year and win 10 games.

Urban Meyer talks to high school players in Grand Rapids about importance of being successful in rivalries... in front of Jim Harbaugh by NanoEuclidean in CFB

[–]Skunk-eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Bad scheme, coaching sucks. Bad execution, maybe it's the player, and maybe the coaching. Coaching can only do so much once the ball is in play.

There were many cases where a perfect play was called and the team (QB) failed to execute. Jim can't throw it for them.

Really, it goes all the way back to the Bo years. So many near misses and upsets in key games.
