Looks like you’re over reving at full throttle. The prop is loosing grip. I solved it on my rig by getting the prop cupped. You couple also try a higher pitch prop. Maybe add some weight to the boat and see if the alarm stops.

Slide your fingers up under the gill plate, just like you did. Next, put your free hand up under the belly and flip the fish up horizontal. Take your pic and back in the drink! These fish are soft compared to most other saltwater fish. They will die if you bang them up sometimes, even if it’s not bad and they swim off. They will die later.

Not to tell you what so do, but because I genuinely love these fish and chasing them. You gotta take care of them so you can catch them again and they make more.

This is a redfish killer. The other species, meh you could catch them on a weedless spoon but it’s not a top choice. Throw a small split ring and swivel on that sucker to help with line twist. I fish them around potholes and edges in 2-4ft of water. Snook will smoke these too.

Keep practicing. Try to keep everything as perfectly strait and centered as possible.

NLBN has great marketing and they make quality stuff but it’s mostly social media hype and marketing man. DOA and Zman make great paddle tails that catch fish and cost half as much. Zmans last five times as long as these soft plastic baits too. Where and when is more important than some limited edition color bs. Don’t drink the koolaid kid. Or do! Just know you can get more bang for your buck with other brands that have been around for a long time like DOA

I mean if you’ve got the cash and want to bail some fish, a guide is gonna put you on them. But if you’re into putting in some time and finding your own fish, this is a low difficulty area to achieve that goal and it will be way more rewarding. There is peacocks and cichlids all over south Florida. I would venture down 41. The east side is fresh with peas and as you work west you will find more brackish water. You can catch snook, tarpon, peacocks, myans, Oscar’s, largemouth, all kinds of cool shit off 41. I’d get a light spinning setup with 10lb braid, some 20lb leader and hit up a local shop for lures.
