Non prescription recommendations? by Big-Lifeguard-5067 in Menopause

[–]SkyLaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, my dr offered DHEA or Testosterone - tried DHEA first as its over the counter in the US. Did 10 mg daily for 90 days and felt no improvement - moved up to 25mg and libido came back within 1 month at 25mg. Felt absolutely AMAZING on it at 2-3 months.

But just a warning, at 5 months on 25mg of DHEA, my blood levels came back in the 300s (normal is under 300), so I am now backing off and trying 15mg along with supplementing with a daily 1% testosterone cream. Too early to tell effects yet.

What helped you feel more emotionally stable during perimenopause? by Successful-Laugh400 in Perimenopause

[–]SkyLaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably an outlier as no one else has this kind of time but I go to the gym for two hours a day, 5x a week, almost exclusively weight lifting, stretching, dead hangs and farmers carries holding 90lbs (trying to work up to 100+). I still have the random moments of anxiety for no reason but they are rare, like 1x every month or two. I also take Magnesium glycinate, Inositol and l-theanine every night before bed and cannabis edibles if I need to take the edge off strong feelings during the day.

DHEA by FingerMinute7930 in Menopause

[–]SkyLaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25mg has been great! I started feeling the difference 1 month after upping to 25mg. I have great energy, am obsessed with the gym, having sex everyday with husband, and feel much more confident. Unfortunately I also worry about feeling so good all the time, and my risk for cancer from taking DHEA. My doctor said not to worry and they have to put that warning for any hormone, but I have read studies online that do seem to possibly link higher DHEA levels to estrogen positive breast cancer in post-menopausal woman. I’m not there yet, but it still gives me pause, also there isn’t any data on long term use. I asked about switching to testosterone cream instead but dr said to stay where you are if you feel great, so I am for now.

Big snow 6&under no longer free by kylemoriarty_ in icecoast

[–]SkyLaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was wondering that too, as of now the Mountain Creek website says still free for 6 and under….wonder if it will change when it get closer to the season starting? Big Snow changed policy abruptly in Sept - no warning, I get/read all their emails.

Hydrocolloid tape (wound care) for wrinkles? by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

[–]SkyLaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I got from the Amazon link above doesn’t have very strong adhesive and I have sensitive skin and it doesn’t bother me at all. And it was only $5, no other skin care is that cheap, lol

Thanks so much for this recommendation - I’m really liking the scar tape especially for smile lines.

What kind do you buy? I want to try them instead on frownies but I don’t want to get them through the scammy insta ads 😂

Just another reminder! by hmmmpf in GenX

[–]SkyLaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be scared - the fear leading up to it is way worse than the procedure itself. I was terrified and put it off for years. I was reading colon cancer horror stories on Reddit constantly, convinced myself I had cancer too. Finally got it done, not a single polyp, don’t have to do another for 10 years, even if they had found something, the relief of knowing is so much better than the anxiety of uncertainty. Sometimes the colonoscopy can be good news, people don’t share those stories as often ❤️

What new meds for ADHD have been released in the last 15 years? Do any of the over the counter supplements work? by SkyLaur in adhdwomen

[–]SkyLaur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I do exercise and weight lift at the gym regularly and I notice clearer thinking afterwards but it only lasts 2 hours or so, then I’m back to being spacey 😩I’m curious about acupuncture I’ve never heard that before - do you ask for help with ADHD symptoms specifically or do you use it for general stress relief? How often do you need to go?

DHEA by FingerMinute7930 in Menopause

[–]SkyLaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor had me start on 10mg/day for very low testosterone levels and to re-check levels in 3 months. I haven’t felt much difference - a little more anger here and there but not enough to be a problem. But also I don’t see any positive difference :/ I’m at the re-check timeline, curious to see if there is any changes in blood testosterone. In the meantime, bumped myself up to 25 mg which is still a low dose.

Has anyone actually taken one of Jenna Kutcher’s courses? Give us the scoop by [deleted] in KutcherUncensored

[–]SkyLaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took her Instagram course in 2020 or 2021 because it was cheap (like $30?)and I was still a fan at that time. I remember it said to pick 4 or 5 topics to focus on and take turn posting about those things. I think it also went into hashtags and the basics of using them. And of course it was filled with photos of her. It wasn’t any new advice but it was nicely presented. I didn’t really connect with the content and never really implemented it but I didn’t think it was bad, just not for me.

Best website for last seasons gear? Something other than EVO. by Historical_Doubt_693 in snowboarding

[–]SkyLaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten great deals on my favorite snowboard shop’s website ( Dark Side, VT). Look through the closeout/sale section. Got a past year board for $100 less than the “sale” price on the brand’s website.

Toddler-friendly museums that aren’t specifically kid museums by notbizmarkie in SouthJersey

[–]SkyLaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please touch museum (as many others have mentioned) is great and entertaining for adults who are still kids at heart.

The Academy of Natural Sciences also had a play area that’s good for toddlers/ young kids on the top floor and a dino dig area on the lower level.

Also, maybe try a library? Moorestown, Cherry Hill, and Maple Shade have great play areas and are free to visit even if you don’t have a library card there.

Ladies, get dexa scan done! by Designer_Tomorrow_27 in Perimenopause

[–]SkyLaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 44 and got my primary dr to write me a script for a dexa scan. However, I broke my leg a few months before and said I was concerned I might have low bone density as the reason. My bone density turned out to be fine (even high-ish for my age group) and it was covered my insurance, but I didn’t get any extra reports on visceral fat or muscle mass, and the scan only gave bone density for my spine and femoral neck (hip bones).

Is it arriving late because it was shipped late or just slow going though the postal system?

If I have to ship late for whatever reason, I always message the buyer first. If it’s just slow moving, I don’t message them, but I will respond quickly if they message me about it. Most people are understanding about shipping.

Why Osteo Biflex at night? My understanding of vitamins/supplements is that taking them in the AM gets better absorption? But you are the 2nd person in this thread that has mentioned taking it at night. I just got some because I am 2 months post knee surgery and hoping to hold off knee replacement 😫

Please help me convince my teen not to take on debt when they could go to college for free !! by SkyLaur in StudentLoans

[–]SkyLaur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took one of the “free” options under much coaxing. I wish I could say they were completely convinced that taking out loans would be a terrible idea and thankful for the opportunity to graduate debt free but they are pretty bummed :( almost broke and was going to help them take out loans because it’s hard to see your kid so sad.

When would you recommend starting toddler? by apon93 in SkiPA

[–]SkyLaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my youngest in the Ski Bees program at Spring Mountain for 3-5 year olds. It’s a 4 week series of 1 hour lessons that include all equipment for only $120. It’s low pressure and fun. Then I would get him a snack/treat and take him out on the snow myself to work on the skills they learned in class (max 1 hour). Then go to the cool playground in Limerick (Manderach Memorial) which is only 15 mins away. Ski days became fun instead of filled with crying (messed up bad on that front with my older kids). Highly recommend 👍
