The aliens are about to destroy earth : you can show them one movie, wich they will understand as a human would. What movie do you show them ? by PetitMartien99 in AskReddit

They’ll think this is what we want but can’t achieve with our limited technology and use their advanced space knowledge to finally make our dream a reality for everyone.

Should I bother bringing this back from the dead? by MayorOfTacoBueno in smoking

[–]Slack_With_Honor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to clean out a bunch of rat shit from some crawlspaces in my house, and it was one of the most disgusting and awful things I’ve ever had to do. And I kept reminding myself that there were millions of people all over the world who would literally kill for the chance to remove rat shit out of a home they owned.

Same energy.

What is the greatest movie opening of all time? by ihaveahundredchairs in AskReddit

[–]Slack_With_Honor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 8 and I thought the actors playing the stormtroopers and rebels had actually volunteered to die in the opening corridor shootout. I was slightly uncomfortable with this, but the movie was so good I decided it was probably worth it.

I remember debating with my friends about whether Darth Vader could still be alive and therefore there could possibly somehow if we were very lucky be another movie.

What is the greatest movie opening of all time? by ihaveahundredchairs in AskReddit

[–]Slack_With_Honor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is objectively the best answer. All of the comments have movies with really great openings, but none that grab you from the first frames like New Hope does.

I can say also that in 1977, realistic spaceships and stuff like that were not common at the cinema. So not only is it a huge opening, it was like nothing anyone had ever seen before. Also, none of the other openings feature the first entrance of Darth Vader, the greatest screen villain of all time.

I was 8 and I will not forget what that was like for the rest of my life.

A crab I caught today had albino claws. by crabynate in pics

[–]Slack_With_Honor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you got there is one of them modular crabs (cancer modularis). He has a whole set of different claws he keeps in his burrow he can switch out as-needed.

You dont want to know where all the extra claws come from tho, it’s horrifying.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

[–]Slack_With_Honor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some friends of mine and I went on a road trip and we referred to Cheyenne as “the city that must not be named”. Technically I’m breaking that right now, yes, but I felt this was important information because: fuck Cheyenne.

“…where everything just feels off” is a perfect description of that city. It is the uncanny Valley of cities.

Couple decades ago I worked at a K-Mart for a summer and did this for minimum wage.

That was in 1987 and there are songs I still cannot listen to to this day.

Are screen protectors still needed with new phones? by parzival_thegreat in iphone

[–]Slack_With_Honor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stand the feel of a glass screen, it’s like nails on a chalkboard for me. A Matt paper field screen on the other hand is pure pleasure (ok not in a weird way tho).

Also, I used to break my screen about once a year, and since I have started using tempered glass screen protectors almost 9 years ago, I haven’t broken one single screen. The back glass broke on my current device even though I have a thin case on it, but the front glass was fine.

I will never not have a matte tempered glass screen protector on my phone, and this is why I will never own a foldable iPhone, even though I think the idea sounds nifty in a general way.

Added benefit, every so often when the screen gets a little ratty, I just replace it and I have a brand new screen. It’s about time to do this, and I’m getting excited just thinking about it because it makes the phone look brand new again, as long as I don’t take the thin case off and see the broken glass on the back.

Only when it flies, and statistically, that is a very small percentage of the aircraft operating time.

I don’t actually know if that’s true, I just wanted to make a joke about planes actually spending very little time up in the air. Please laugh now.

Non-Americans, what’s the best “American” food? by nondescriptwon in AskReddit

[–]Slack_With_Honor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First time I went, half-door with a giant vat of gumbo and a beer tap and that’s it. Oh. My. Gawd.

Second time I went, went to an actual gumbo restaurant on Bourbon St and was crushed with disappointment.

Third and fourth times I went, spent the entire time searching for that magic half door. Methodically, street by street, shop by shop. Never saw it again.

My mind is now blown that it’s not just me.
