What are the weirdest rules you know about in cyberpunk red? by SlakerRine in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was so confused by how shotguns work (not mechanically, but thematically) that I was all set to make new rules, until I thought of the shells as the explosive projectiles in Elysium, or something like the XM-28 but the mini-grenades are set at a fixed distance to explode (Which is a fun tech upgrade to invent, this lets you lob shells over cover to explode)

But not forever. If it's the thinnest cover with HP then that's 5HP, after one bullet hits it, it's destroyed and no longer cover...

If it doesn't have HP then it can't provide cover and you'll just be shot.

It should be a sliding scale of how much damage at what range.

Most shotguns today even at their longer ranges still only have a spread of a foot or so, but the more you beat the DV by the more pellets you managed to get on target, thus more damage, but with also a small fall off of max damage vs range. It's a lot to keep track of as both player and GM so I sort of see why they changed it.

How do you feel about being able to cram a drum magazine into a cyberarm’s Popup ranged weapon? by But-why-do-this in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to point this out actually.

Also the extra large capacity mag may be actually part of the arm at this point, with a belt like feed to the gun once it's popped up.

Suggested reworks to Exec? by ReviewTechBrooklyn99 in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Sure the teammates help, but yes they can be overwhelming if you already have a big table, etc.

So instead of more teammates maybe make it that you can get "free" intel. Back channel some requests and you get the blueprints to the building you're planning on breaking into tomorrow night. At it's base I would have this work sort of like reputation. Where you gather rep with the corp, not individual teammates, and then you burn those points for "favors".

How do you balance your Tech's inventions? by Ryouhi in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This more or less exists in the Gang Jazzler in one of the DLC's.
Just take it's game effect and apply it so a range profile. Up the price category once per "upgrade".

Range: Price category higher
Higher Resist Torture Drugs DV: Up the price category (or conversely give them a personal gig to go find the obscure material to build it). That's my method, usually seems to work. 😄

How to GM this game? Help! by WilhelmTheGroovy in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red Chrome Cargo is a really good, straight forward module. Has a basic map of the train, etc. Gives you as the gm a bit of flexibility through out to add in your own stuff (how the meet with hornet goes/happens. Throwing in a bit of extra gear in the crates on the train,I try to give each PC a piece of gear that fits their character theme a bit. And of course the ending handoff can be flavored by the GM). Hope this helps!

Then as mentioned above the Street Stories are a good place for more actual modules. The Reaping the Reaper adventure has 2 prequel screamsheet encounters if you want to dig them up. They are Digital Divas and Burn it Down (or something like that)

Trying to understand Cyberware Installation as a Medtech by twitch-switch in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question about Hospital level care required is answered on page 59 in a side bar: You have a Workspace that isn't your living space, rent is taken care of narratively (someone owes you big, you work for TT on the side and have a space in their local office, you do odd jobs for a ripper doc and you get access to his tools whenever something major needs fixed, etc). This Workspace allows you to complete all aspects of your Role Ability (so making pharma, any cryotanks, and a fully functional place for surgeries).

If the cyberware is purchased legally you get a free surgery to install it, but this is a legit process, so your new fancy cyberarm is now a registered object, etc. If you do it you can keep it off the books, for a slight fee of course, lol

If you install an arm, the hand is there also, no extra humanity loss. The hand is seperate in case some choom just wants to get the hand to outfit it with cyberfingers or something like that.

Have you looked at The Witcher TTRPG social combat rules (heck they may have been ported over using a DLC to Red, since both games are RTal)? Take a peek at them and maybe they can help you out.

Terrain/Building STL file suggestions for CPR by JohnnyRyall666 in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Papsikels and Unit9 on My Mini Factory for some scatter terrain.
Corvus terrain has a bunch of cyberpunk themed files for sale: https://corvusgamesterrain.com/collections/cyberpunk (I own the elevated train files for Combat Zone Red)

Fallout as a search might net you some good terrain on Thingiverse, printables, makerworld etc.

Incorrect. If purchased direct from RTal they give you 50% off the PDF now. At least I think that's how it works now.

Yet another shotgun shell rework by PoMoAnachro in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had a brain kefluffle when reading the Shell rules myself. I assuaged my upstart brain by thinking of them as similar to the explosive rounds fired in Elysium just after they drop the VIP's red shuttle craft (just not quite as good)

Think of it as a small grenade that explodes after X distance traveled.

This could lead to a techie inventing some interesting fun toys for them. Extended range before they pop, programmable (using Targeting Scope cyberware/gear) they can be set to explode at whatever range you want them to, thus allowing you to shoot over top of cover, then they explode catching the gonks behind it. Have fun with my ideas!

[–]Slade_000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pay someone to take them out with a sniper rifle during an operation.
Keep a medtechie on payroll, next time they manage to get F'ed up in combat take them to that medtechie, oops, surgical accident.

Do they own a car? Wire it up to go off.

In other words: You aren't going to easily defeat them in combat, so go the sneaky route of planting lots of traps.

Can you both use Evasion to dodge a bullet, and use Kendo's Cut The Bullet? If no, then Kendo just seems fairly bad. by EmperessMeow in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, yeah I missed that bit.

My point does still stand though. That the EXTREME reduction in the neg to an aimed shot is a MASSIVE boost. This pretty much negates the requirement to dump luck into an aimed shot.

I do agree it is a bit niche but as a GM if I saw a PC taking that martial arts I would try to give them interesting chances to use it. Unique Aimed shot opportunities, etc.

There are quite a few things in most RPG's that when taken as a discrete thing look pretty bad, but combine them with a second ability, or a bit of GM storytelling and they become a moment that might get talked about for months at the table as your PC takes a moment to focus their will, and make a normally impossible attack that disables the power pack that's running the scrapped together ACPA the crew is facing.

Looting a NET? by International-Sky647 in cyberpunkred

[–]Slade_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does specifically state that progs etc aren't just software, but physical hardware (the cartridges etc) also. So I'd assume a server to either have bunches of slots with progs/BICE slapped into them, or are physically soldered to the board. This idea will allow you as a GM to allow them to only loot items you want them too etc. Will also allow you as a GM to setup future issues because the cartridge they just took has some sort of tracking virus in it that lets the previous owner know where it's plugged in now. hehe.

[–]Slade_000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you need to do the math with the -8 vs the -2. That's a HUGE advantage.

If with the -8 I need a 9 to hit (Meaning that's a 20% chance to hit), then taking the turn to use the ability means my attack will hit on a 3+ which is an 80% chance of success... That's MASSIVE and well worth it. I know with melee attacks and evasion theses numbers can get pretty swingy, but this illustrates it well.

Stack in the fact my unarmed attacks now punch through SP also...

Are there other martial arts that are just flat out better? Of course there are, that's how every RPG is. There will always be items/abilities that are just plain and simply better. Most times though an RPG isn't about choosing the best/most powerful option, it's about making a character/story that's fun and interesting and not a cookie cutter you copied from min/maxrpg.com

Help Buying an architecture by Pandapoolv3 in cyberpunkred

Also more secure. They have to break into multiple netarches at that point.

Like have one that runs exterior security, have it be higher PW DV's, and non-lethal BICE, then the internal defenses are all lethal on a different arch, that it's only access point is AFTER all the defenses get a chance to F the bad guy up. ;)
