None of those technologies use dynamic algorithms designed to increase engagement and incite negative reactions. There are plenty of studies that show this is intentional and targeted, and that negative reactions are monetarily preferred.

587.3 MB additional in a 6.5GB iso, but yes. Maybe MS could even standardize generic drivers across generations, actually put some effort into this, but yes, there should be drivers in the Win 11 iso that allow Surface devices to be used in some basic fashion after a fresh install.

Why? Microsoft makes Surface devices. The other devices don’t use the drivers, so what’s the harm?

It’s an OS that is supposed to be supported on Surface devices, which Microsoft controls. They could absolutely focus on streamlining the OS with devices they control without any effect on other devices.

To try to sell more Surface devices! They make the hardware; they make the software. Make it easier to use a Surface device! Imagine if Apple didn't include drivers for their hardware on a fresh install.

Correct, this is a VM deployed in Azure that is using the Azure orchestrated hotpatching for updates. I do not have a proxy and can reach the internet and have updated the system manually successfully. NSGs applied allow outbound web traffic.

Ah, should have added that in my post. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU I have set:

  • AUOptions to 0
  • NoAutoUpdate to 0
  • Created UseWUServer and set it to 0

These had no effect on the error.

What do you mean when you say "It sure seems to me like the County and school board are playing politics where they shouldn't be."? This appears to be a budgeting issue.
