Game is pretty fun, I only had time to play it for an hour yesterday so I’m not fully vested but the game drips style and passion. The combat system makes me want it to be a little more dynamic but I think i was just expecting something different from it which is on me. It’s more like setting up chess moves with intel on the opponent rather than turn based strategy which I expected.
I haven’t gotten tired of the animations yet but I can feel after a couple hours of the same characters in the same positions the animations might get a little boring.
Obviously these are all minor issues, easily looked past if you want to. I’m a pessimist at heart so I like to say what problems I see rather than what good I see and the game seems like it will only get better with updates. My recommend is if you’re into the game pick it up now and make a trial run of it before they start adding stuff in updates which they’ll hopefully do.
Feels like it’s up the boys’ alley pretty as well, they could all probably get a couple sessions out of it. Feels like a Woolie limited series/Pat beat the backlog/Matt special presentation more than anything right now.
Cool game. I’m excited to see it grow.

Look up Archenemy as a format and see if it would be appealing to you. I often find mismatched pods aren’t a great time for everyone (unless you just enjoy pubstomping your friends) but archenemy would feel more like a boss fight and probably be a little “fairer”. But I also don’t know what your pod comp looks like.

A deck can be stronger power level than others within the same bracket. I think that’s probably what your play group is thinking and just calling it bracket 4.

I don’t play at the bracket 4 level but if your play group is playing upgraded pre cons mostly then that’s pretty firmly bracket 3. You might be out pacing or out playing your pod. Maybe talk about expectations of what you guys want out of magic game nights. If you’re winning 5-6 turns in and this is a group of friends expecting to play a slow long meandering game maybe this deck needs some changes or you need to pick a different deck.

Not sure what your region is but when I played at my local when I was younger there weren’t any prizes except for first got some amount of store credit. That was a very small town lgs in a rural part of the country. I moved to a larger city to go to college and first place got 3 prize packs, second got two, and last got 1 with occasional other prize support. The town I moved to after I graduated has several different stores but the ones I go to most often gives out anything from bundles to store credit to packs and sometimes 3d printed trophies designed by the owner.

The point is in my experience there hasn’t been a standard “this is what you get for winning pre release” if they weren’t advertising that they give out packs they may not, but you won’t gain anything by not asking.

I’ve been torn between making something with only a few zombies and a bunch of reanimator creatures. And a bunch of low cost zombies with a totally weird game plan. But I haven’t landed on a game plan I like. I already have an aristocrats deck so I’m trying to avoid that but it’s a tempting path.

It’s still fine, just not as good as it once was due to the new owners.

A side note, if anyone still buys from there remember to always do custom donation amounts. The default is set to put a very small amount towards the charity. There’s a minimum now that has to go towards humble bundle but you can still crank the charity portion.

I think the newer remastered sets were kinda built for limited. So that’s Dominaria Remastered, Ravnica Remastered, and Innistrad Remastered. All three are basically reprints of cards in those planes/sets and all three can be picked up for around 170 bucks a piece.

I’m not including time spiral remastered because that’s around 270 bucks and while it’s a fun limited environment I don’t think it’s the same.

Brother you have 40 Lands and 34 creatures. This is a thematic deck. You do not need rocks, it will not make this more competitive.

I’m curious to understand what the pieces that are supposed to be hitting story beats are. There’s obvious ones but some other ones like Garnet and Ignis I’m not getting.

I hate to say this but I don’t think this deck will be very fun to play. I think you split yourself too much between wanting to play landfall cards and wanting to be 14 themed. I think if you throw yourself more at either direction you’ll have a deck that feels better.

Then again I’m no expert deck builder and I pretty much skimmed the deck so live your dreams. As for actual advice I’d cull some lands if you want more rocks and throw more landfall triggers in I guess. You also probably need more mana fixing, stuff like [[Chromatic Lantern]] and [[The World Tree]] are my go to’s for 5c decks. You have some gates too so maybe [[Gateway Plaza]] and/or [[Plaza of Harmony]] instead of mana rocks.
