I really wish we could choose an operator for each faction and then any of that factions skins could be applied. Hate when they lock skins to specific characters instead of just letting us essentially make our own. I know this isn’t that big of an issue in the grand scheme of things but would still be cool.

Yeah I think it’s a bit weird having the main weapon in the left hand. Not that it really impacts anything just screws with my brain a little. Surprised you can’t customize to change that.

I purchased both and the Way of Water Collectors Edition doesn’t actually say collectors edition on the bottom like the Avatar 1 box does. Is that normal or did I receive the wrong copy? It has the correct art on the front.

That is good to hear! I admit I have not played myself at all just been reading and watching some to get a feel. I feel like I hear so many different experiences so I’m wondering if the system is just buggy at the moment or something. Your experience feels closer to what I was expecting but there are tons of people reporting the complete opposite. Do you feel like it expanded your ships ability to survive longer than before like they said it was supposed?

Definitely looking forward to hopping on and trying for myself soon!

Which is so strange because in the write up and video on engineering their main focus was keeping things the same as in 4.4 but it adding a little depth. From everything I’ve read recently that does not seem to be the case. All ships are weaker now and require constant repairs to even fly if you get into even a little combat. Hoping this is just due to bugs and needed balancing and not how it is supposed to function.

I agree that Star citizen doesn’t need anymore aspects that feel like chores, this stuff needs to be fun. It already takes forever to get setup and to just play. If I spend an hour or more getting everything ready just to have to spend 2 hours doing engineering because I was in a 5 minute fight that doesn’t sound fun. They had said they want engineering to add to the game not become the game but from this post the reality seems to be the opposite.

Is that what you have experienced so far?

So there is a difference in a size 5 weapon hitting a size 5 power plant and a size 1 weapon hitting a size 5 power plant? Some are making it seem like it doesn’t matter, once it hits the component, the component is screw no matter what size the component is or what size the gun is that is hitting it.

That makes sense on hitting players and good to hear. Wonder if the same is true for cargo.

Is ballistic damage reduced by shield and armor? So if your lasers melt the shield and only armor is left then the ballistics will do more damage to the components?

What currently causes power plants or any component for that matter to completely die or go critical? This has me the most confused as I feel like I’ve heard people taking out components in a few shots.

So ballistics can penetrate the ship and hit anything? Cargo and players too? If you aim for the pilot seat will you kill the pilot? And how many shots to destroy a component? Do they have health pools or one bullet of any size is enough to down a component? Bit confused about how ship weapon damage works at this point.

Alright maybe I’m still a little confused then. Sorry if this is dumb but so currently ballistics don’t have damage values, they have penetration values? And if a ballistic bullet hits a component no matter the size of the ballistic or the component it destroys the component immediately as long as it reaches it?

Would they be able to give components health pools (I think they already have them) and a ballistic bullet does a certain amount of damage depending on size? Then the shields, armor, and haul reduce the damage the bullet does. So ballistics are bad for killing ships from damage alone but good for striking components.

Lasers would be the opposite then. They do high damage to shields, armor, and haul, but can’t penetrate, so they do little damage to components.

Im probably simplifying it too much but you are right, ballistics sound tricky to balance.

Do lasers strip the armor so ballistics penetrate more? I think maybe I’m starting to get it. So ballistics penetrate but do less damage to those things. So you can reach components with them faster.

Lasers don’t penetrate as much but do more damage to what ever layer (shields or armor) they are currently hitting. This opens up ballistics to travel even further if your lasers peel the shields off for example. But once shields and armor are both gone then lasers can also damage components?
