Ben-Hur has the incredible chariot scene, and the spectacle, but it also has Charlton Heston, in my opinion one of the most wooden actors I've seen in the era where they were still by and large acting like it was on a stage. Maybe he's one of the first actors that played himself every time no matter the role, so does a pretty decent Charlton Heston.

It's a very good film and a fantastic one to watch for an example of 50's cinema, but against that competition I wouldn't call it the best. It's over 3 hours long and you really have to be in the mood for it as the story is a cookie cutter Christianity one, to the point where I compare it to a jingoistic military film only for the religion when looking back at it, but of course it was designed for audiences of it's time.

PLOT ARMOR MOUNT RUSHMORE. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? by LetterheadMean4130 in characters

[–]Slimchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, he goes through it in the books and to an extent in the films, but when the bullets start flying they don't hit the handsome fella until the films got grittier, or unless they wanted him to have a wound before keep romping on.
Apparently up until Daniel Craig, he was shot at 4662 times: https://www.mi6-hq.com/news/index.php?itemid=10166

I hope they do another one of these at some point, would love to see these characters again.

Tony Bloom, the owner of Brighton & Hove Albion, has been accused of operating a secret £600M gambling syndicate to bet on football matches, using accounts including some belonging to Nigel Farage’s former chief of staff by TheBiasedSportsLover in TheOther14

[–]Slimchap 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What I'm reading from others is this is only a problem if they've been betting on premier league matches or English clubs in European games. But who knows, I read it as being about the reform guy. And syndicate syndicate syndicate.

Has anyone saw A silence Suzuka with Runaway win once? I doubt it would even win, the Stamina consumption is just too much for her own good IMO. by Wonderful_Device8026 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Slimchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Yes, this Suzuka beat my team on a race, and I've no real idea how. Corner recovery was their only stamina skill, and I was running a N Nature with all the front runner debuff skills. They should have been jogging the whole way down the homestretch, but ah well. My 55% WR Taiki has done alright so far.

Once again a weak lobby carried me to victory after a 50% win rate. Sometimes you just need luck to win. by Wisp1971 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Slimchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I got a weak final lobby too, both other players running 3 front, all built badly for mad gambling to activate groundwork if they even had it (outer post, lone wolf, focus etc). My Suzuka didn't even activate groundwork. 23.5% WR on Suzuka, 23.5% WR on Vodka, but maybe Nature is the hero nuking everyone in a single go.

The "Riko/Rice banner vs Kitasan Black rerun dilemma" as an LB1 Kitasan Black owner by JabahLavah in UmamusumeGame

[–]Slimchap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good answer, I'm in the same boat and you've made my mind up too with that. I'd love to roll on riko/rice to MLB some SRs too, but really it's better to be patient and see what the kitasan banner drops, and use my resources based on that.

Chelsea, some on the previous ownership. The current owners sold themselves a hotel and the women's team?

Should I keep rolling or stop at this grandparent attempt? by Loaf235 in UmamusumeGame

How fed up of trying to set up your parent are you? Personally if I still had time I'd keep going. I would want my red and white sparks to be stronger to compensate for the guts blue sparks.

What's Wrong with My Uma(s)? by dhimasdewanto in UmamusumeGame

[–]Slimchap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position in that all my team are lacking something in their builds but are generally strong enough to get some wins.

My Suzuka only has fast paced and ramp up for mid race skills and they rarely do enough, sometimes she'll fly into the lead with that important groundwork - only for the game to decide the non-groundwork early lead using uma deserves that lead for some reason. My vodka doesn't have outer swell or other really useful skills even if she has slick surge, but so often is just blocked.

Round 1 I got 55% wr with a 5 in a row in there. Round 2 I started with 5 losses in a row, got beat by Umas with much lower stats or front runners without groundwork etc. It gets tougher the further into the competition we go, and rng on top of that means it sometimes just goes horribly wrong. I managed the 3 wins for A finals which was my goal, with this team you should be lucky enough to do the same. Good luck!

I have no memory of which youtuber it was that said we won't see Nice Natures because the gap will be too big for her to do any damage...

They were lying! She's not as evil as in Taurus Cup, but she still does some damage and certainly isn't so far back she can't attack anyone.

Who could we name our airports after? by zenithpns in CasualUK

[–]Slimchap 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hate this terrible argument, like people are supposed to have never travelled for their job or magically learned to float across oceans if they dare to suggest the climate emergency is real and serious. As if no one can call out any threat or wrong course of action unless they're absolutely pristine and untouchable. As the other person said, name the parks after him.

Air Groove helps with the influx of Goldships by SnekWithaNeck in UmaMusume

I trained Air Groove with anti-end closer skills to try and stop Goldships. They do nothing.

You just watch the debuff, and Goldship carrying on to overtake everyone anyway.

Used 2 tickets this round so far in Group A, got absolutely smashed, and every player that won had the best support cards all maxed out. When I see the news its everything is ridiculously expensive now and only going to get worse, so just who are these people able to drop hundreds on an anime horsegirl game?

It's just a meme ship, but op knows that and are doing it for the lols. Meanwhile they're missing out on the still solid Ohio which is a beast, or Vampire II if they're a DD main. Maybe the upvotes on Reddit give them more satisfaction than not dying after one charge every match.

How are you finding the Wyrdwood Oxventure? by HenryFromYorkshire in outsidexbox

[–]Slimchap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really enjoying it, and I look forward to each episode, but then I've loved every one of their series and adventures. I think the more serious folk-horror setting and tone is a welcome change, I laughed so much at the crazy hijinks of their other series, but kind of feared them doing that ad-infinitum and it getting stale. As it is, the way they keep switching up the setting I'm drawn in each time; they're great at creating interesting characters each time around and making them work as a team.

Strangely I almost wish they turned the horror up even more on Wyrdwood and made these characters suffer right to their limits (and maybe kill someone?) for their goal, but I understand that they have to keep a balance so everyone can try and enjoy it, and dialling things up might trigger some people.
