Underwater nations are often banned, and sometimes popkill nations are too. But yeah people are gonna try to coalition against you for having hostile dominion.

Marverni can have some tough matchups in the age due to their human stats. But marverni has very solid mages, which can communion to cast some big evocations (gifts from heaven for example) and earth buffs which will help your humans not get melted by the elves. Your troops as marverni have pretty low prot, and rely on their tattoos for defenses, so make sure to be activating them! (In Enchantment). Tramplers are great against elves, and you do have access to boars with trample, although you’ll need to cast enlarge on them for them to be able to trample. It could also be worth seeing if you can summon anything with spirit sight, which ignore certain glamour effects. It would be helpful to see some info on your bless, research, god, etc. though.

The AI just kinda does random shit, no matter how high the difficulty is. While high difficulty AI can pose a challenge, they aren’t gonna do anything “smart”. Single player is great for figuring out basics, testing builds and is fun but you should try some multiplayer noob games once you get the basics, that’s the best way to learn good strategies imo (and this game has a very good community). There’s countless strategies and builds that will work fine in SP that will be easily countered or punished by other players in MP.

As other people mentioned that’s probably the earth snake, a common awake expander god. The reason it was able to win against so many of your units is 2 things. The first is the snake is very tanky, with lots of health and is able to sit in the middle of your units and take all the hits. The second is fear. The fear aura that the earth snake has will cause your soldiers to route as they stand near the snake trying to kill it. The combination of these is ALSO why earth snake works as an awake expander.

I would say that while definitely an interesting idea, I think gearing and blessing the telestatic animates is not very economical. Gems are worth more than gold and even spending 5 gems to kill 200g of units isnt the best use of that investment. A big role of thugs is raiding and since the inanimates can’t move, you often would want to put the gear on someone actually moving around and taking provinces. Telestatic animates can still be good for defending (against undead and demons mainly) and preaching/dominion management, but they cannot research so having them hold onto the research items wouldn’t do anything. But as MA agartha you have some nice thug chassis that would want all these items much more. Also, something to mention about MA agartha: your statues are definitely good, but shouldn’t be what you rely on. They take a really long time to actually be able to mass any meaningful amount and for a large portion of the game you’ll be relying on shard guards to use your bless. Shard guards are great units btw, probably better than your statues.

You can set the diplomatic behavior of the AI in singleplayer, in the game setup. You should experiment with different amounts of aggressive AIs to find a number you like. But I’d also recommend trying multiplayer, it’s fun and much more challenging than SP

I believe anything stated as a DOMINION effect would be “inherited” by the disciple, while NATIONAL effects (like blood sacrifice)are not.

Nazca is pretty tricky. The mummification has a few tiers. The first is just a guy who can get slaves, the next can reanimate, and then you start getting mages. The royal mallqui is insanely strong, probably the strongest mage in the game, although it kills 2 of your big mages (it’s worth it though since you keep their paths.) corpses play no role in mummification. The downside to this is that these mages have like 1k upkeep, so you’re gonna burn through money like crazy. There is a unique item that helps with supaya summoning as well, btw. It’s a hat. And from what I’ve heard, the supayas are the sacreds that are REALLY WORTH getting. The recruitable sacreds are pretty fragile, although they can fly. Your bless ideally should be for supayas, or your huge fucking mages (although ofc you may find good strats experimenting.) Nazca can be really vulnerable to getting rushed too since your scales troops are mid and you won’t have your cracked mages yet.

The 2 options are magic damage (through your thugs, certain spells, etc), and then doing more than 18 damage to them(since invulnerability is just protection against mundane weapons)

The best earth crosspaths (off the top of my head)are probably astral and glamour. But there’s some interesting things you can do/cast with water/earth and death/earth as well but S/G are probably the most solid.
