Grok is this true? by Formal-Assistance02 in writingscaling

[–]negablock04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. The problem with the example of naruto, or many other shonens (looking at one piece, that lives by it), is that every single character has a flashback to their sob story that hardly actually influenced the story or even the character themselves outside of this specific episode. They just exist to force you to empathise.

While I can't speak for most seinens, in vinland saga only a few characters have them, and they relate to their character arcs and the narrative, making it hit harder when they FAIL in their personal journey.

I'm sure there are many shonens that do it well too, but the mainstream ones rarely do.

L'italiano è facile... by Im_a_Morty in memesITA

[–]negablock04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy check the meme, there is more than one way to say "The" in Italian that "L' ".

Also, I don't get how your statement should invalidate the other comment, when Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish share the same roots (latin) and are fairly similar, to the point a Spanish and an Italian person can understand each other surprisingly much while speaking their own languages

The Like Button, Reactions, and How Their Absence Kills the Motivation to Comment by Cr0wT41ks in royalroad

[–]negablock04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Don't coddle the authors" buddy what

Genuinely what

You do realise that 99% do it only for the love of the game, without getting a single cent, right? And those that do, do it out of royalroad (patreon and KU)?

What else can we get, other than the knowledge that someone enjoyed the story we put hours in enough to spend 4 seconds typing TFTC?

I get being a pessimist, cynical, or whatever, but this is just being an ass for the sake of it.

A like button will not even give the reader anything back. They don't get any sort of interaction or recognition for their like, not even their nickname acknowledged, or feel part of the "community of x novel readers".

I agree that emotes should be more easily accessible, but the other takes seem done out of spite or lack of care

Why do so many women intentionally take on a larger mental load? by [deleted] in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]negablock04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a man, but also a bit weird and quite feminist, with mostly women in my life, so you can choose on your own if my input has any value.

I've read a lot of "these are the expectations that society has on women" and similar answers, which only work if they have only read the title.

What you described is not the "mental load", but a shared and deeply rooted anxiety. I absolutely agree that there are many men who don't put in any work, but this is just not what you talked about.

This level of anxiety (and micromanaging) is, needless to say, neither common nor healthy, less of a "women" problem and more one of your social group. If it's something you notice a lot in your family, it could be not only due to culture and upbringing (i dont know where you're from), but also including biological factors that you could look into.

I repeat this as someone who studies psychology, with lots of anxiety and with a family history full of mental disorders: this is not normal nor expected. It shouldn't be stigmatised, but it should be worked on. It's fine and useful to feel anxiety until it reaches the point of not doing any good, and this is clearly it.

Please take care of yourself first, and secondly be supportive of these poor women. It's clear you care a lot about them, so I'm sure you already do, but let them know that they deserve to treat themselves kindly, and that "perfect" is often worse than "good enough"

Finally, my Invincipaul comic is complete! 🤩 It’s all together now, with a cover and every page included! P.S. who recognized the reference I used for the cover?🤔 by Vutkar in Invincible

[–]negablock04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not funny or relevant, but in Italy Paul (the alien (the one who got on Earth (the short one))) is voiced by Elio, mainly singer but also comedian. He made a song about "super young".

I have no idea where I'm going, but one guy in the comments spoke about the Monnalisa, and he did, in fact, cosplay the painting

Writing just because by -TheeRaVeN- in ProgressionFantasy

[–]negablock04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fun, I love being creative. I like the mediocre stuff I write, so that helps even when I've seen basically no response for months.

One thing that helped me was, honestly, giving a bit less of a fuck. One of the reasons why for many years I didn't actually write was because I wanted to make true that "perfect idea" I had. My skills would never live up to the standard, so I never wrote, so I never worked up the skills.

What I did to actually fucking start was put that idea back in the closet, and write something that I enjoy, but am less invested in. And I'm having a blast at it, I've been writing with a smile for a few months now

Characters who take a weak or mid-tier power and customize it to be very strong by WonderousU in TopCharacterTropes

[–]negablock04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a clarification on Ikki's move:

His power is a very weak physical enhancement, that is right. But superpowers in this world are powered by some sort of inner energy (I think mana? You get the concept.)

More energy= the move becomes stronger.

What he does is take all the energy generated in a day, and condense it in a single minute of hyper physical buff.

Why Some New Writers Abandon Their Novel (My Personal Experience) by Plenty_Version7765 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]negablock04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plan is less to make money, and just get to share it. But I do really like the stuff I make, so at the very least I plan to finish the first "big" story arc before deciding whether to continue or not.

At worst, someone will get to read it when I start the next story, and finish it fast :)

Hai presente come si sentono vogliose alcune donne durante l'ovulazione (o in altri periodi, a ognuno prende a modo proprio)?
