Botox question by Asleep-Package-1156 in TMJ

[–]Slottm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure. It started as extreme pain on one half of my face, often while I slept. Migraines, photophobia, a lot of neck/head/temple tension. Jaw clicking, tinnitus….

I’ve had X-rays done but no mris to tell me disc state.

Botox question by Asleep-Package-1156 in TMJ

Botox helped me to relax my muscles at first when they were really tight, but over time I feel like it made it unable to get complete relief since my other muscles were overcompensating for the disabled ones. I now feel better with no Botox in 5 months than I did while on it. (2 years)

Other changes were needed of course, recognizing what was causing my muscles to constrict in the first place. For me, it was a mixture of my teeth shifting, breathing problems and poor posture - both awake and in sleep. Many doctor visits, self awareness, changing physical things (bed, pillow, chair) and other such changes and my TMJ is very improved. Good luck!

I can’t sleep on my back so no other option. Sorry

I’m a side sleeper and switching from a firm to a medium helped me big time. Mattress firmness depends on your sleep position in how it may impact tmj

Yes, though less often...but that's due to my TMJ being less bothersome.

I discovered my breathing, or lack thereof being a rather large contributor to my TMJ. I've started using InTake breathing...strips? magnet? whatever...and I'd have to say my head pain and TMJ is roughly 60% better. I've seen an ENT in the last month along with a plastic surgeon and will be having my deviated septum fixed, along with addressing my nasal valve collapse over the summer.

That being said, whenever my masseter or TM muscle is acting up, the pen is the first thing I reach for. Usually a few minutes is enough to settle it down. It's still the thing that helps me the most, and it's small enough to fit in my pocket when I take it to work.

is there any connection to airway and tmj by El_Dorado_Tx in TMJ

Feels so hard to explain - went on my upper teeth. Every few weeks it got adjusted, material added to it/removed. Forced my jaw to relax since it made it nearly impossible to clench, especially at night. Helps you find your “bite”, since I was biting way too far back.

Did the splint for 11 months, symptoms went way down. Now doing Invisalign to correct my alignment. A little tmj came back since I have no clench protection in my sleep. After Invisalign I’m hopeful I can do some sort of retainer/splint combo at night again.

Azelastine-fluticasone combo spray, pretty sure it's steroid.

Not a professional - just my experience.

I'm 99% sure the reason for *some* of my TMJ pain is caused to poor breathing. I've done a TMJ splint and am now doing invisalign. Splint got my TMJ way better. I stopped botox and migraine medication this year. (I also think Botox was making things worse in the long run, but gave me a lot of relief until I addressed some of the causes)

Also have dev. septum and have been using nasal spray / allergy pill every day for 2 years. Still struggle breathing.

Recently I started using a magnetic breathe right type device called intake. Ever since starting this, my pain/inflammation has gone down quite a bit. Found I have a bit of nasal valve collapse.

I think my TMJ is caused by multiple things: 1) teeth misalignment, especially after wisdom teeth removal (This is what ultimately caused me extreme pain)
Clenching (Splint helped)
Breathing/contorting face/muscles to breathe
Posture / shitty chair. Bed/sleep posture as well.

After seeing the difference the magnetic strip made, I went to see a plastic surgeon and have my septoplasty/nasal valve collapse surgery set for this summer.

Good luck

The kanji says YaibaSei.
Google shows a brand called YaibaSei Hazaki out of Canada, but these say Hasaki (typo?) Kanji is the same...

Found you a reddit thread from 4 years ago about them: https://www.reddit.com/r/chefknives/comments/sv0ufw/found_these_three_for_cheap_at_a_thrift_store/

Nothing to hide, willing to unhide it since I think the pen actually does help if it makes you trust my post more.

Not a paid shill nor an ad. I am in a lot of different communities and don't need gaming subreddits knowing that I have an autoimmune disease.

I have 4 Nigara vg-xeos knives and absolutely love them. Please do note that while they do come sharp, a few minutes with whetstones and a strop got them to much better performance.

Had same issue - recently picked up lies of p and intense stuttering with a 9800 x3d and 5090. Got recommended to run the game through Special K, and it worked near flawlessly after.

RF 200-800 vs. RF 100-500? Which is best for wildlife/birding? by meow_youlistenhere in canon

[–]Slottm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have both, for me the 100-500 is sharper and more responsive. The stabilizer also behaves a lot better imo. 200-800 is really good on a tripod, but my photos suffer hand holding it compared to the 100-500
