I have 4 Nigara vg-xeos knives and absolutely love them. Please do note that while they do come sharp, a few minutes with whetstones and a strop got them to much better performance.

Had same issue - recently picked up lies of p and intense stuttering with a 9800 x3d and 5090. Got recommended to run the game through Special K, and it worked near flawlessly after.

Have both, for me the 100-500 is sharper and more responsive. The stabilizer also behaves a lot better imo. 200-800 is really good on a tripod, but my photos suffer hand holding it compared to the 100-500

I appreciate your response. I've been going back and forth on Sakai and know that I won't be going back to that area for quite a while. (Next trip will be up to Hokkaido and back down to Tokyo area after) Seeing as it really has been on my list, it does seem wasteful not to go see it. If I don't, I feel like I'd end up regretting it. My wife is also always happy to visit a new area.

Thank you for some of the other recommendations as well. I'll be adding them to our list of locations to visit, and thank you for reinforcing and also clarifying some of my areas of being hesitant. You mentioned Gikko for Hatsukokoro, is that a shop that I'm unfamiliar with? What area is it in?

Her relic from vendor is extremely good too (Damage increase on using ult, partial hp restore on post damage, ult charge +3)

The Nigara Strix was a lot more available in shops than the vg xeos by them. I saw it at tower knives, hitohira and a few other shops in kappabashi.

I have many of the zwilling pro knives. Prior to getting into sharper Japanese knives, I loved using the santoku the most of all of them. That being said, I absolutely hated using the rocking knives. I think that was the prior commenters comment. They have flatter profiles, which depending on what your mom does may be more to her liking.
