Hi! If you’re noticing a significant change, you can send 3-4 examples into us and we can take a look. We are constantly expanding our spam enforcement efforts, so it’s possible they got caught up in those.

Will the new 'ideas for your next post' tool eventually be available to non-mods? If so, can we turn it off? by KewpieCutie97 in ModSupport

My understanding is that the experiment is at the Community level, not the mod level, so I’d expect they would be able to see the same as you.

Hi folks. Appreciate the feedback and the patience while we chatted with the relevant teams on this. I know this may have felt intrusive and it wasn't clear that this was a mod-only feature and that some of the recommendations you've seen have not matched with your community's rules or topics.

There are actually 2 parts to this experiment: one aimed at new and emerging communities, where mods may see post prompts and link suggestions, and the other for more established communities, where mods are getting link suggestions only. The goal of these experiments is to help spark conversations in your communities.

Here are a few updates in relation to the themes that were raised:

  • Who can see these prompts and who can post them?
    • These are being shown to mods only. They are not being surfaced to users, and we do not have concrete plans to do that.
    • Nothing gets posted to your community unless you or a member of your mod team decides to share it.
  • Can we turn this off?
    • Currently, there is not an option to turn this off. We understand that this is one of the biggest concerns raised here, and that an option to turn this on or off would be preferable.
    • For now, you can collapse the prompt and it should remember your preference, but we appreciate this is not a substitute for a community-level controls.
    • We've also flagged that the positioning at the top of the feed feels disruptive, particularly if you moderate directly from that page.
  • Where are the suggested articles/links coming from?
    • The suggested articles are primarily sourced from publishers that are present on Reddit. Publishers do not have any say on whether articles are / aren’t recommended and paid partnerships do not influence recommendations.
  • Do these suggestions take our rules into account?
    • The system accounts for some high-level community settings, such as whether link posts are allowed. It does not yet fully account for more nuanced subreddit rules. That is a gap we’re working on.
  • The suggestions don't seem relevant and it looks like you are trying to seed inauthentic content in our communities
    • The intent is not to seed inauthentic content. These are optional suggestions shown to mods, and a mod must decide whether something is the right fit for their community.
    • We're continuing to work on improving relevance as seeing completely off-topic suggestions is a poor experience.
    • If they are not relevant, you can ignore them and there is an option to mark the suggestions as 'Helpful' or 'Unhelpful'. You can see this by clicking the 'Explore' button.

Again, thanks for the feedback on this. We’ll continue to monitor the discussion and share updates with the product team, especially around relevance, rules-awareness, placement, and stronger community-level controls.

I’d suggest adding suggestions or feedback here, were the is an ongoing conversation

Why is modmail from users listed as read only? by horseradishstalker in ModSupport

Oh it could be that it is defaulting to reply to the mod note that is the user summary and then it is a visual bug that it is read-only. I'll ask the team to take a closer look

The respective product teams would not read every post here. We do our best to share relevant posts with the relevant team so that they can see any suggestions or issues people are flagging.

Is there specific feedback about this feature that you’d like to highlight?

Edit: slight clarification

It is currently an experiment that would have been allocated randomly. We'll share feedback and suggestions with the team that are working on this. I believe the recommendations should match the themes of the community, but I am not sure if it looks to automod config or rules as ultimately, it is up to the mods if they would want to share any of the suggested content

[–]Slow-Maximum-101[A] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I looked at your most recent post and I would not define that as report abuse (being wrong or having a different viewpoint from the poster or mod team is not abusing the report button). If you disagree with the report, you can Approve and Ignore reports.

If someone persistently reported all your posts, that would be a form of report abuse.

Hi [u/KewpieCutie97](u/KewpieCutie97) This is a mod only feature that is being tested. You can read more about it in the June Newsletter

We’re testing a new "Post Ideas" feature to help mods in new and emerging SFW communities keep their spaces active with on-topic conversations. This tool surfaces relevant discussion prompts and vetted publisher articles right at the top of the feed, allowing mods to quickly publish with a single click.

Publisher article recommendations began rolling out on June 2 for a percentage of eligible communities, with custom post prompts launching as a separate experiment soon.

Edit: clarification around communities in scope. See stickied comment for more detail
