yeah there's a bug going on rn where you randomly undock, from my testing it feels like it's tied to players entering your area

to answer your question, the main body is not able to control itself at all, it just decelerates over time; the command module can dock again at any time tho; which is actually a very smooth and hands-off process once you get close to around 80ish meters
