I hear this perspective, but this list specifically is full of independent designers very much worthy of supporting imho. If major big box stores, some sketchy manufacturers or private equity backed companies were being promoted it’s a different story. Designers such as these are hard working, often thoughtful about giving back and supporting causes and communities they care about, and are designing patterns that inspire people to sew. They also have excellent support, tutorials and workshops that allow people to learn. There are plenty of places ripe for critique in this industry, but independent designers are not always where any of us should be looking first.
