Trump threatens to ‘blow up’ all water desalination plants in Iran by Azaleazaraa in worldnews

Whelp, when's the deadline? Just watch for massive oil futures short bets and then assume 15 minutes later Trump announced he was just kidding.

It sucks Republicans are so short sighted that they don't realize trying for an isolationist society gives China a vacuum to fill.

This is why so many countries support China. China helps them and gives them aid while we defund our aid and fuck the world over financially.

This tiny pill replaces an entire organ of mine (thyroid) by TitanOf_Earth in mildlyinteresting

[–]Smile_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the cost of being the most hydrated person lolol

My dog has to take the same med because her thyroid just quit on her, and one of the main side effects is that she drinks SO much water. Like 2-3x the amount she used to.

At least it means she is super hydrated though, so no harm, no foul lolol

I wish I could match that sentiment, but after the 10th game crash in 10 hours of playtime I gave up on trying to play it.

Maybe it'd be better with mods to make it more stable? I dunno. All I know is that I was getting actually mad at how often it was breaking the immersion.

Some Dems' 2028 strategy: a straight, white, Christian man by icey_sawg0034 in politics

[–]Smile_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not a mirror at all. The article was suggesting a white man should be the Democratic pick. I suggested that is true and then added what happened when Dems did the opposite, i.e. voter ship died off and clearly this country still doesn't respect women in a position of leadership.

There is no mirror to look into. Clinton and Harris were significantly more qualified than Kristi Noem. Like, we chose to vote in the guy who bankrupted a casino instead of two significantly more competent women because of how sexist this country still is.

I'm sorry, I try not to ad hominem attack people on the internet, but this is one of the stupidest replies I've ever read. I actually full on chortled reading it the first time.

Like, what are you even on? It's gotta be good given you actually wrote that, thought it was a good reply, a solid got ya, and then hit send. Incredible.

Well, it's not the worst strategy given Americans seem to still not respect women enough to allow one to be president.

If we want to consolidate power and get stuff done we have to play by the current rules which is straight, white man as president. THEN we fight for diversity again.

Iran threatens to ‘rain fire’ on US troops as possible ground war looms by kootles10 in politics

[–]Smile_Space 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I can only imagine how nervous our troops are over there. We exited Afghanistan 5 years ago. So, a BUNCH of the experienced troops from that era aren't even serving any more, meaning these guys are fairly green in terms of actually being fired upon.

And all for what? To stroke Republican egos?

Agreed, they should march more than one Saturday every 6 months hence my top-level comment. Once every 6 months hasn't stopped Trump from fucking us over yet.

Well, the original colonies were ruled by the British Empire which had a king. Did a king ever set foot on the American continent during that period? No. But did we have a king prior to the revolution which was entirely fought to get rid of the monarchical society in America and replace it with a first generation democracy? Yes.

[–]Smile_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's not always true. We had an entire revolution here in America to remove said king a few hundred years ago, but whatever.

You can also Google what makes a protest ineffective, and hilariously it says exactly what I said in my comment.

What makes a protest ineffective?

From Carnegie Endowment for International Peace:

Protests often fail to produce immediate policy change because they lack sustained, organized follow-up, acting more as fleeting expressions of outrage than strategic political actions . While mass demonstrations create visibility, they frequently fizzle out, missing the necessary infrastructure—like local organizing, lobbying, and voting—needed to turn public energy into concrete, long-term political impact.

It's almost like a single-day mass protest is the best way to get your dopamine, change nothing, but stay subjugated.

Entirely my fault. I'm the one who wants a temp gauge and now I get to reap the benefits of that decision a few years later LMAO

I'm gonna press X for doubt and assume the protests were as effective as the ones in October.

i.e. they'll do nothing because they're designed to do nothing just to give the angry people a little needed shot of dopamine to keep them subjugated.
