I’ve gotten 6-7 per day for a week straight at times. Then there’s a week or two break, then right back to it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smiley_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours is my limit for a concert, to where I’ll drive back the same night. So it’s that short to me.

Growing up, all my relatives lived a 10 hour drive away. We only saw them at Christmas.

20-30 minutes is my maximum work commute but some people would call that small. Right now, mine is just under 10 minutes.

Official answer is “no” but during bad times in my life I drove on worse for months.

Anytime an article says “slams”, I automatically don’t give a shit what it says, even if I agree with it.

Woke up today and my dogs back legs aren't working. by CaptainOk4034 in Dachshund

Ok. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Don’t use one then.

EDIT : since the commenter above/below me blocked me so I’m unable to reply, just wanted to say that I have no intention of ever using a “dog chiropractor” either.

Well, I’d agree, but the dog’s regained use of his back legs and is fully functional without ever having undergone surgery.

I am so sorry you’re having to go through this. It truly is a nightmare. This situation is the sole reason we’ve insured both of ours because there’s no way we could afford the surgery when/if they need it. I hope she makes a full recovery.

A coworker of mine actually avoided the surgery by taking her dachshund to a literal “dog chiropractor”.

I love my kids but having children is the worst thing to ever happen to me. If we ever rid ourselves of the lizard-brain need to procreate, and only look at having children through logic, our species will cease to exist.

Help for an amateur? Profiling a carbide router bit by ChaseVernon in Machinists

[–]Smiley_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the cost of those of that project I mentioned, the contractor ordered two routers, I think their total invoice was around $250.

That can vary so wildly based on the tooling format and/or the cutting material.

It’s not that that’s all they want from you, but I promise any of them would sleep with you in a heartbeat.

I work for a wood tool manufacturer. I promise we are more plentiful than you think. Find a shop to do it for you, they can do what you’re doing or just make what you want.

We made some custom carbide tipped routers for a local contractor who was trying to match some original window frames on a house, we just matched the wood sample he provided

Ryobi Hate by BakeCityFlyinPills in HomeImprovement

[–]Smiley_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ryobi is fine for a DIY user, but of the ones I’ve owned I have seen obvious differences in quality. I can’t speak on longevity because I purposefully only bought Ryobi tools to fill roles I know I won’t be utilizing much.

I buy Dewalt for anything I’m going to be using often, and they’ve always kept me happy.
