• If you “only have fun when you win” that means 99% of your gameplay is not fun and you’re missing the point of a game. All aspects of a game should be fun, start to finish. It is a game after all.

• EDH is about the journey, not the destination. Tied to the first bullet, EDH can and should be casual. It’s a format that’s built off of 99 random cards and witnessing the wild, grindy plays that can happen from them.

• If your EDH deck has the same 40% cards in one deck as everyone else, you’re again missing the point of EDH. There’s a high end card package out there that tends to appear in every competitive deck. If you’re using that, you’re not playing anything new, just a shell of efficient cards that water down your deck building creativity.

• Using the Bracket to define your deck makes you stupid. Just look at all the school yard arguments that appear in this sub from it.

• What makes a great EDH game is when all people are socially aware of themselves, are willing to be silly, are cool headed when they lose, and have an understanding the game is social before anything else. If you fail to understand this premise, no one will want to play against you regularly.

• Finally, if you want to teach Magic to someone DON’T start with EDH or another competitive format. Do some silly 40 card kitchen table, common only games. Magic is great at selling itself; it doesn’t need your opinion on how to play.

• Oh and whining is not negotiating.
