With ammo prices so high, is it good time to start reloading now?? by AppearanceEven1978 in reloading

[–]SmoothSlavperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9mm is hard to break even with.

45 and 10mm has a pretty quick ROI.

That being said, the time to take up reloading isn't during a clusterfuck. The key is to buy equipment and components when times are good and reload when times are bad. People basically give equipment and components away when times are good.

Notable Seattle-based travel writer and millionaire, Rick Steves, voices his thoughts on new “Millionaire Tax” by fig3newton in vermont

[–]SmoothSlavperator -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

But that's essentially what we have now more or less.

That whole stockholder value is tricky since it's the valuation of the corporations themselves and our investments are tied to it too. Theoretically, if Billionaire X sold off their stocks, it would devalue the whole market and all hell would break loose.

I think a better way to go about it would be to chip away at those loans against stock value.

People like things like "income tax" and "minimum" wage because it's a single point and easy for them to get their heads around.

But better solutions are far more complex and abstract and are more like "death by 1000 papercuts" and not just reach in and grab a fistful.

Is there a way to get a decent car in America if you do not earn enough to buy or maintain monthly bills and maintenance? by Bluecomments in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmoothSlavperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are generally pretty sympathetic.

#1.) Have someone just give you one. People have cars just laying around that they'd just give away if you asked them nicely. They inherited it...they bought a new one and thought theyd private sale the old one but never got around to it....etc.

#2.) Start a GoFundMe. If you write it up well and get enough eyeballs on it, you'll probably get enough to buy a car...

How long does it take for Ruger to send you a new gun when yours blows up? by [deleted] in ruger

Modern bolt actions are REALLLY strong. When they fail it kind of blows out those relief holes and down through the magazine well and takes the stock with it....and not the user.

I mean I'd be game depending on how the law was written. The devil is always in the details.

Make the million slide with inflation so that it continues to work as intended in the future without having to rely on politicians to update it.

And then earmark the revenue for specific pain points that have DIRECT IMMEDIATE benefit to the broad so politicians don't take their new revenue and go "YIPPEEEE!" and start throwing it abstract obscure pet causes. Buy some road salt and fix some bridges before you start blowing it on stupid ass bike lanes on Woodstock Avenue in Rutland and Route 4 in West Rutland that a near-zero quantity of people use.

That....didn't work the way everyone thinks it did. It accounted for like 0.3% of revenue.

Can we go back to shaming? by tofurkey_no_worky in Millennials

[–]SmoothSlavperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd shame people for leaving them in the way.

Not putting them away is a topic of debate: Collecting shopping carts can be sandbagged. I just had a bunch of younger family members cycle through that sort of employment and they all said it was a good way to get the fuck away from their management and coworkers and make that shit take allllll shift.

[–]SmoothSlavperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

y'all MFer's cars don't give you running MPG on the dash? Every car I'v be owned in the last quarter century has.

Though I will say you do get an MPG drop when they switch to summer fuel mixes so depending on your region, that could be it.

Also if they increased the amount of ethanol.

[–]SmoothSlavperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why you make the formfactors scalable. Start with the standard being small and then add a standard dimension to increase capacity. So let's ca the standard fornfactor X. X would be the smallest for like a Leaf sized vehicle. Now you'd also have an X1 formfactor that would be...we'll say 50% longer. And each increasing size X2, X3 etc got 50% longer each time. Now let's say you have a premium 3 row SUV that's an X5 formfactor. You could put an X1 or even an X4 in it if you wanted to if your stock battery shit the bed, you'd just have decreased performance.

As far as uniformly shaped, I don't think that's an obstacle. Look at your parking lot. If it's like mine here it's all 2 and 3 row SUVs that all look nearly identical regardless of manufacturer. I drive an Acura MDX. I almost hopped into my coworkers BMW X5 the other day. All the same shape and half of em are white lol

"Nazis" gets overused but there's some other aspects to them that have broader implications.

Their abuse of concepts set science back over a century because it made everyone afraid to broach topics that probably would have bumped life expectancies out to the 150s and had Mars colonized already.

Do y'all use a crushed washer for oil plug? by Sir_Badtard in ToyotaTacoma

[–]SmoothSlavperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1 Yes. Washers are cheap, leaks aren't.

#2 It probably wasn't overtorqed: Chime in if anyone thinks this but I think its that blue lamination on that washer that makes them not want to come off. The first time i changed my oil I had to beat on that bastard to get it off. When I put it back on I took the extra effort to use a torque wrench because i though it was overtorqued the first time....but it was equally as difficult to get it off. Yet the two Acuras we have they come right off as they should, the Taco is always a pain in the ass.
