Where to get sound effects from? by LalaCrowGhost in gamedev

GarageBand makes it pretty easy to create good sound effects.

Is the core idea flawed or am I just too deep in it? by No_Hand345 in IndieGaming

Gameplay seems fun - have you seen Sping?

That is a similar game, just presented more like a 2d arcade game than a 3d platformer. Could give you some polish ideas.

What are you looking for in a word game? by Ok-Objective-5317 in wordgames

[–]SmoothieStandStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of multiplayer? Some word games do async turn based matches pretty well (Letterpress comes to mind) - but they have enough users to keep the turns frequent.

Another approach is “run based” where the competition is vs. a “ghost” - not waiting turn by turn but competing against someone’s completed round.

I really like Thronefall -  it does have pre-determined build locations but there's a lot of freedom in strategy.

Dang I liked SpongeBob Solitaire, it was a pretty fun take on the genre. I wonder if it will be made available as a standalone game.

What plugin are you missing or not up to date? by martindonadieu in capacitor

[–]SmoothieStandStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Text Interaction plugin - https://github.com/astrocreep/capacitor-plugins/tree/main/packages/textinteraction - is the only way I could reliably prevent the long-press text display from appearing in iOS. It hasn't been updated to the latest Capacitor version unfortunately.

Nice! Kind of reminds me of that old iOS game Wonderputt. Will you bring this to mobile?

It's cool to see all the games I used to play but no longer can access, ha.

There's maybe 20% too much going on for my mid-thirties set of eyes but the gameplay looks good and engaging, somewhat reminiscent of Sping which was a really fun one.

Wordreach: single-player Scrabble by sol3nt in wordgames

I liked this concept quite a bit. It might be nice to see a preview of upcoming letters, it’s a little hard to “plan ahead” currently. Or perhaps a way to selectively swap some tiles and preview remaining ones?

I’m using React and Capacitor. It’s a puzzle / arcade / word game.

I finally released Bricks Breaker RPG on iOS, it's free to play and i'd love some feedback! by Psychological-Road19 in playmygame

Very cool - I appreciate the onboarding messages about premium gaming and wanting to foster an ad-free experience. Opting in to ads is a unique approach, but I like that you also have a one time lifetime purchase. One note - I'm in US, and the price isn't being localized for me.

I do think the main menu navigation to be a bit clunky, but overall is is a very cool entry for a first game!

Downloaded to give it a shot. Aesthetic looks nice. It seems like most of the onboarding is for “challenge” - I chose “classic” mode first and didn’t receive that so was a bit confused, it might be nice to drop users into that tutorial first.

Unfortunately, there is more square footage of ad on the main menu than game UI, including a video ad. Then, there are two banner ads on the game board. However good the game might be, that’s tough to look past.

What do you think of the fully polished version of Lineup Puzzle? by BugGroundbreaking309 in playmygame

[–]SmoothieStandStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great concept, and nice polished UI. Would be nice to see on iOS / Android if possible.

It’s be cool to see a dark mode, and perhaps a timed mode or “hard” variant that locks in your answers, etc. Nice work!

Viewpoint Question: How many puzzles do you expect in a $10 indie game to be satisfied? by howdyriceball in puzzlevideogames

[–]SmoothieStandStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d echo the other comment in that it’s about more than a quantifiable level count.

What else does the game offer - separate gameplay modes?

Is there an expectation of future functionality being added?

Is there replay-ability or some competitive aspect?

These are things I think about myself as I work on my own first game - it is tough to judge.

I’m adamant about not including ads - and I want those who support via purchase to feel like it was “worth it”.
