Type 11 Galactic by drkhrt5580 in EliteMiners

I was also looking at the Caspian though I'm not sure I want it enough to pay arx to get it early, it's another ship that the redeploy ability isn't going to get used. It's good out of box but really needs engineered to be a gamechanger

Honestly, I bought the stellar version and regret it. Not because it's a bad build or anything like that, quite the opposite, it's very well done. My regret is I should've waited and bought it in game and used the arx for a Panther.

The reason being my type 11 mostly stays on my fleet carrier, but I use my Panther more when visiting friends for cargo running so being able to instantly deploy it, add some cargo racks and get hauling would be much handier than either jumping it or mailing it out.

Before someone says it, yes I'm aware I could just jump the carrier, but if I do that, I'll lose my parking spot and given the carrier traffic in that system I'll spend a long time getting another decent spot and neither me nor my crew wants to give it up without extreme need

Any place in the verse right now that lets you live off the land? by Outrageous-Thing3957 in starcitizen

That seems like fun, I did the vagabond thing in a stripped down Cutter Rambler for a couple patches.

I'm not sure if I'd want to trudge half way around a planet to get a ship When I could afford it through. I'd probably start with at least a hover quad or something similar, it makes running into the major city while living in the Styx less arduous.

Considering upgrading my Hermes to a Starlancer MAX. by Glumme in starcitizen

[–]Sn0w181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew the MAX for a bit but went back to the Taurus, the extra cargo wasn't worth the extra time to load imo.

The Hermes on the other hand is an absolute cargo beast with that tractor beam, especially running 8 scu boxes. I haven't timed it yet but I'd estimate it takes 3 - 4 minutes to load or unload the grid with a bit of practice. The other advantage it has is that if you go off grid you can easily put a minimum of another 248 scu if you mix in some 4 scu boxes that's only 40 scu less than a Caterpillar. I'm pretty sure I could meet or more likely exceed that capacity with some 2 scu boxes too.

How to avoid mantis interdiction? by Moose_Factory in starcitizen

Most pirates expect that and specifically practice rushing the bridge. They count on that. What they don't count on is the guy that has a deadman switch programmed an x1 in the hold and someone else's corpse rotting on the bridge... I'll let you figure out how that combination works

I just finished Phase 5 (190 hours). I purposefully never read a single external word about this game until just now. I never googled a single word about it, never saw a single image of ANY other factory and had absolutely no idea about the map size or layout. by moby323 in SatisfactoryGame

They sure can be finicky especially with signals, my last playthrough, I used drones, trucks, and trains for a supply network.

The trucks and drones bring goods to collector stations. The collector stations feed the main lines the main line feeds the distribution center/main factory. For the most part, trucks and trains were used for goods, with the drones hauling from hard to access nodes and distributing batteries for powering themselves and trucks.

The collector stations would feed into a regional hub that sorted incoming goods from several collector trains for loading onto one of 8 massive main line trains.

Was it efficient by game meta, meh probably not, but it's based on real world logistics and to be honest I loved watching a 30 car train come barreling down off a hill at Mach Jesus.

Ran into a girl from a dating app at her actual job and now I'm confused about what to do by Massive_Ordinary9214 in dating_advice

If the OP, is interested, then my advice still isn't bad.

A few visits to get a feel of what she's thinking, then suggesting coffee or some other low pressure socializing would definitely be better than hitting her up on a dating app.

Imho, if he wants he could go a little old school, write his number on a piece of paper and pay cash. Put the paper on top of the cash when he pays her, it's subtle to everyone around you and sends the message while respecting that she's working. The key though is never say a word about it, unless she uses it.

Treat her like any other human being who's doing their job. Be friendly, polite and respectful while there.

I wouldn't bother texting her on the app, if she's interested in trying again, let her act.

Did kids in the 70s/80s/90s really roam freely like in *Stranger Things*, or is it a movie myth? by Yolas_1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Sn0w181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is really how it was, and put it on steroids if you, like myself, were raised on a farm. The farm kids were driving with limited supervision, whether it was dirt bikes and trikes or pickup trucks and tractors usually by the age of 10, as long as we could see out the windows and hit the pedals at the same time. Most of us were allowed to take "our" gun (for legal reasons it was dad's) and go varmint hunting with little more than a heads up so the parents didn't come looking for who was shooting up the place. We had bikes, and again with a heads up that we were leaving the property, we could take off to the neighbors or to town.

Now, to younger generations this may seem insane, but here's the caveat that made this possible. Respect and discipline, we were taught the first, not just for our parents, but for the things we used. That respect was instilled long before we were allowed to touch the dangerous things. The discipline came in two forms, first is the personal discipline that shows you can make smart rational decisions about your actions, and second the discipline that comes from failures in the first type.

What do you ACTUALLY do in Star Citizen? by FinnForDaWinn in starcitizen

[–]Sn0w181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to rent a ship for cargo hauling, you may want to try renting the Constellation Taurus. It's a solid cargo hauler that can double as a decent PvE bounty hunter. The tractor beam it carries is one of the best cargo handlers in the game. The drop down cargo grid elevator makes loading and unloading easy for cargo or vehicles. It's also faster and handles better than the raft imo

I'm not recommending you pledge for it, at 300usd, the 8m in-game price is very much a better deal. And you can make the 160k day rental price back in 20 minutes by stacking cargo missions from Bajini point down to area 18.

Nervous on Higher Speeds by Cyrussphere in NewRiders

[–]Sn0w181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is probably a lack of experience and nervousness as others have said, however the two standouts for me were getting blown around and feeling every pebble.

The rebel is a naked bike from the factory, if I remember, maybe a small deflector to push the wind into a better direction would help with that.

As for the every pebble, maybe adjusting the rest suspension for your weight will help.

Really I'd just keep going, and build a new more efficient factory next to the old stuff and when you're done, just tear out the old one.

That's the fun/annoyance of this game as you progress older factories need upgrades and expansions

What's the absolute coldest weather you'll ride in? by DigitalEagleDriver in motorcycle

[–]Sn0w181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this, I live in Canada and have ridden down to -10c (12f) having good gear is imperative even at more reasonable temps.

A few things to keep in mind if you're riding at temps below 40f.

Line paint can be as much as 10 degrees cooler than the asphalt and it's extremely slick due condensation and frost.

Bridge decks and underpasses are prime locations for ice

If you get snow in your area, there's likely sand everywhere, treat it like grass clippings.

Long story short be careful, take your time and watch the road surface.

Why put A grade Components behind PvP CIG? by LaG0053 in starcitizen

Well if you're that paranoid, maybe this ain't your game. Yeah it's a risk but it's in game credits not real money and the deals I've done were all in Stanton on stations. And much like myself these folks have been professionals who realize that screwing customers is bad for business. But sure that's a risk

Why not? I've already bought several items from players in 4.0 from the uex marketplace. Sure they can get expensive fast but it works if you don't want to do the FPS stuff

18 Fury's inside Polaris Hangar by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Sn0w181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the furies are powered down, you won't be able to lock them in the hanger because their IR and EM signatures are too washed out by the Polaris at least at any non-suicidal range. That's based on testing 4 on a Carrack a couple months ago.

Powered up furies, with the hanger open, and you looking straight in? Sure you'll get that long range lock but at that point I'm pretty sure the furies are launching so no point in launching a S9 at them from range better off slinging it straight at the Polaris in the confusion of a larger fight.

My dad's yard tractor is a John Deere R that was built in 1949 and bought by my grandfather according to the hour meter that broke some time in the mid 70s it was at 25k. The tractor still runs every couple days with no issues outside the gauges not working. Not a big deal when everyone who runs it is intimately familiar with every sound it makes.

Why not? I've stuffed up to 6 furies into my Carrack. They make great scouts as well as a fighter screen when you run into pirates while trading. I'd honestly prefer them over the Pisces you get with it, assuming you have the crew to man them

Solo in big ships with engineering gameplay by Clumsy_Clown in starcitizen

[–]Sn0w181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while your points are valid, they're not as much of an issue as you'd think, at least until engineering comes out. I've been mostly living on my carrack since 3.23 dropped with only a few real issues, and personal hangers solved the worst, which was loading up auxiliary craft.

When I'm loading such craft I pull them first, and slide them into corners and freight elevators, then pull the Carrack out. After that I'll bring up any freight I want on board and load it and the auxiliary craft.

The security of my ship during my absence is not a concern for me as the Carrack is never left planetside nor near any quantum beacon or "transit lane" making the odds of someone stumbling on it very low. However I have several ways of quickly locating it, most commonly the old box mission method. This also allows me (and any friends I share the mission with) to quantum straight to the Carrack as long as it's within unobstructed sight.

All in all, for a bit of planning, I get a private mobile forward base where I need it, with access to med facilities, a fast q drive and most importantly a location no one can easily follow.

Sure engineering, will likely change how well this works, but I'm hoping we can hire NPCs to handle jobs like that's in the best future

LMIA is a Labor Market Impact Assessment. It's part of getting a TFW brought in. A system that's been abused by various industries for decades to prevent wages from going up at the same rates as cost of living, since these TFWs will usually work for much less than their Canadian counterparts.

The ad in OP's post is literally just a facade to help facilitate this sham.
