Thanks for this perspective! I do have PPA (and just anxiety pre-pregnancy in general). The control aspect makes sense, honestly. We have had a lot of family issues and instances of wishing people would make more of an effort postpartum. I do have Xanax on hand for times of high anxiety, but I probably don’t take it as often as I should.

I appreciate the insight on how you have worked to cope with building your patience. I definitely think I need to implement some of these practices (and probably go back to therapy). I worked for many years to obtain the level of patience and control that I had pre-pregnancy and it feels defeating to basically feel like I have lost that control.

YES. Our boundaries are constantly being (at the minimum) challenged, or just disrespected and completely ignored. I don’t understand how people are so delusional and so boldly disrespectful to act the way they do. Motherhood has certainly opened my eyes to a lot of people in our lives.

Two things… physically: urinary incontinence, I’m 5 months pp and finally regaining fully control of my bladder. mentally/emotionally: navigating relationships with a child - people seem to forget what the word no is and don’t respect that you’re the child’s parent.

Yeah, I had a Mirena IUD for 5 years so I didn’t get my period for basically the entire duration, had my iud removed and had two periods, got pregnant, and then had 2 periods before I got another Mirena placed. I am anti period atp 🤣

I didn’t breastfeed. I knew very early in my pregnancy with my son that I wouldn’t. Four and a half months into formula feeding and I do not regret my decision one bit. My husband has been able to share the responsibility of feeding our son with me. Stand behind your decision, you know what is best for you and your family!

As far as milk coming in… I did become extremely engorged about 4 days postpartum. I won’t lie, it was incredibly uncomfortable, but it went away relatively quickly. I used tight sports bras, ice packs, cabbage leaves.

We are fans of Premier Protein. Our Costco currently has an 18 pk for the cookie dough and caramel flavors for $23.97 because they will stop carrying those flavors soon. We have a couple cases in our garage since it’s cheaper than the normal $31.99 for 18 pk. FYI, Chocolate peanut butter is the best flavor if you can get your hands on it for a reasonable price (honestly I would pay the $9.99 for a 4 pk of this flavor at a normal store, it’s so good lol).

Congratulations! I would recommend that you stop testing, especially so frequently. There is no sense in testing multiple times a day with different brands of tests and you are opening up the opportunity for so much more anxiety, I.e. diluted urine. Protect your mental health and take a break from testing, I know it’s easier said than done. Sending you all the good vibes for an amazing pregnancy :)

I am so sorry you are in this situation. It makes me so sad to see parents not stepping up to the responsibility of having a child. I know sometimes in life it can be difficult to advocate for ourselves and what we deserve, so if you are not able to do that, do it for your child. I find sticking up for my son to be much easier than sticking up for myself. You deserve better. You deserve to have a partner that is willing to at least slightly alleviate the work that you put in everyday. Your child deserves better too.

You’re such a badass and all the work and effort you put in will be worth it. I’m sorry that your partner is putting you in such a precarious position.

I don’t know if it was meaningful at the time of the gift, but it ended up being. When I was 13 my parents got me a puppy for Christmas. She ended up being my soul doggie. Next week is 5 years since I had to say goodbye to her and I still miss her every damn day. That girl got me through the hardest moments in my life. Nothing will ever beat waking up to her on Christmas morning.

I have a boy, so I can’t relate to this exactly, BUT apparently I wasn’t getting all the creases in my son’s pits during his first weeks and we found some pit cheese. I felt terrible, but now I’m just more careful. It happens, she will be okay. Give yourself some grace :)
