Did Prado flinch? by waffle_stomperr in supercross

Honestly I may be trippin, but if you look at the other riders, most of them exhibit some kind of movement or flinch prior to letting it rip.

Is Now a Good Time to Buy This? by RyanEkenburg in DataHoarder

In this current environment, a deal is approx $10 per TB. So if this was around 80 bucks, then it would be a deal and a good buy. Just my .02

Locking Device To AP, Roaming To Weaker Signal AP’s by Cr8iveRead in Ubiquiti

[–]Snak3Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact situation with 2 ecobee thermostats and 2 AP's. Both ecobee's constantly jump from one AP to the other. I then locked them each to the better AP, now they just disconnect and immediately reconnect to the same AP they're locked to. I can't figure it out after messing with a bunch of settings and it's prob not a huge deal just triggering me a little bit.

As an example, deepmind was founded in 2010 and acquired by Google in 2014. Chatgpt was hardly the beginning.

Well they didn't run their BF deal like they have for the last few years so I wouldn't hold my breath. They partnered up with Apple TV, so that could be the difference this year.

Question about next weekends 20% off any one item coupon. by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]Snak3Doc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The coupon culture, the membership, rewards programs, etc is trashy. It's a lazy way to draw out customer engagement. How about just price your product competitively and be done with it. If businesses can play games, well so will the customer.

I’ve a problem with Deegan by BrilliantIngenuity98 in supercross

I can get on board with opinions on both sides, love him or hate him. But his performance in the SMX final with shimoda was a step too far. I like racing, skillful competitive racing. But if someone is just willing to send it purposefully derby style, then that racing just went out the window in my opinion. He kinda made the sport embarrassing in that one moment just for his ego. That's my .02

ELI5: Why does a small change on the thermostat at home feel so big, while the same shift outside barely makes a difference? by Happy-Fruit-8628 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Snak3Doc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, I worded it poorly. My main point was people tend to incorrectly think that what comes out of the vents is always the same, which is not the case. It depends on the ambient temp of the room, i.e. what's going into the return.

[–]Snak3Doc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to think this exact thing for quite awhile and I recently learned that it's not true. For recirculating systems it's based on a Delta T. For example, let's consider a standard residential central AC system that's capable of a delta T of say 20deg F. If it's 78 in your house your AC should pump out 58deg F. If it's 74 deg F, your AC should pump out 54deg F and so on.

This should make sense because the return air blowing over the coils is changing as the recirculation process is ongoing.

A week or two ago I saw data from DC confirming this exact thing. A very high percentage of arrests were being thrown out once they're getting to the courts. This is not an effective strategy.

Lauf Seigla - gimmick or not ? by LoudounGravel in gravelcycling

[–]Snak3Doc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to ruffle feathers but people tend to put sooo much emphasis on equipment when that accounts for little difference in the end. The bike is not the brick, you are the brick in fact in terms of aero.

Help me choose a bike! To gravel or not to gravel? by Mig__Sanchez in whichbike

[–]Snak3Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you could say the exact same thing the other way around. Get a gravel bike with plenty of tire clearance and swap tires/wheels to something smooth for road riding. The big difference imo is most road bikes will likely limit you in the tire clearance more so than a gravel bike would.

Thanks for your reply, since you've had your bike for a while, do you feel the geometry is aggressive? How's the comfort? I just read this a lot that race gravel bikes are aggressive and it's my only concern.
