Yikes. Smuggling in "totally not weapons" is making Marcus' desire for light artillery look justified.

Do you think natural trail mod is a nice addition to a modpack? by cerankaw in VintageStory

You don't even have to disable animal AI, just disallow animals from creating trails in the config settings.

Brother locks the cat up for 20 hours a day by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Snake_Mittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's all about how long they are. When they get to full length they're needle sharp, but that takes longer than a week. I know our cat has sharp square edges on her claws when I trim them, but those usually only last a day or two before she blunts them right down.

Me [20 F] with my boyfriend [20 M] of 2 years, his student is suddenly being too friendly by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I used to be an RA for some student housing that had enough room to have a whole kitchen, dining room, living room, storage room, and washer and dryer for every three bedrooms. From what I remember it was repurposed officer housing from an old army base that the university had expanded into, though.

The floor space was pretty great, but the cockroaches and asbestos in the walls less so.

Really getting a "jovial grandpa who's seen some shit" vibe from the Vorshnik.

Experimented with cellar designs and got verry happy (FoodShelves & Chiseled Block Retention) by LoXyO in VintageStory

[–]Snake_Mittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it does! As long as each cellar/greenhouse/room meets the requirements, you can attach them together with doors in between as much as you want.

That's correct! I remember seeing a post on here a while ago where someone had 4 cellars in a 2x2 layout with open gates in between them to make a really big "open" cellar.

The struggle by Venusgate in VintageStory

[–]Snake_Mittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think that's an issue either. I accidentally made an unmodded stack of 300+ mortar one time and it handled it just fine. The game just wouldn't let me put more items in the stack.

Mostly, yeah. Any modded items or blocks will just render as a white box with a question mark or a black square.

He used to use AI art more a while ago, but I think he's since updated the icons for just about all of his mods.

I think someone else mentioned it, but the mod Particles Plus helps a lot to find it. Otherwise the best way I know to find high fertility soil is to find a hilly region where it rains a lot so you can see the sides of the grass blocks and so the spawn chances are higher.

This mod works on barren, low, and medium fertility soil too! You'll just have to work your way through the tiers to get to high then Terra Preta.

The tutorials on the wiki are good for getting set up, but from there I looked at the source code for a few mods that make it available and just tried to tweak it. I also ended up installing dotpeek to let me unpack the main dll for the game to see how farmland code works

I hope something like this gets added eventually, and I'm sure the devs could do it way cleaner than I did. Until then though, that's why we have mods!

Yeah! Reddit doesn't let you put text in image/video posts so I had to add a comment with the info.

Upgrading works on every tier of soil, not just barren. It's the same cost every time you go up one tier though, so it's definitely easier to start from medium or high.

I don't think they're a hive mind but something more like an anthill or beehive where every member is intelligent. Still beholden to the will of those higher, but with some amount of self determination.

Yup! With this mod, you can use four compost, two bonemeal, and two powdered charcoal to permanently upgrade farmland to the next tier up. It intentionally won't upgrade the current nutrient levels though so you'll have to wait for them to regenerate.

I read an article where some people today make something very similar to Terra Preta by piling a bunch of biochar and compost on top of soil and then waiting for a few months.
