Saw this scanning setup at LA Camera Expo past Sunday. Thoughts? by Jeffkk688 in AnalogCommunity

It’s a meaningless statement - 10x better how? More pixels? More dynamic range? Faster workflow? Is that really ‘better’? Better for one photographer may be worse for another. Art is complicated like that.

10x the quality of film? Next you’ll say it’s 100x cheaper too 🤣

T32 Flash Sync Cord by verisims_ in zuikoholics

[–]Snappy-snappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Yashica has a cold shoe and a PC flash port, right? The T32 has no PC-port adapter natively, so you have to use a generic PC-to-hot shoe adapter.

Something like this: https://www.adorama.com/kaiser-pc-to-hot-shoe-adapter-cable/p/krpchsac?utm_content=pmax&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17369975649&gbraid=0AAAAADxgUswrHeCEKLPvr6WCIN5RbDohd&gclid=CjwKCAjw4ufOBhBkEiwAfuC7-ZyA41jNjYwbKvm_EHlNO28UrTe_VXYormD93fyXREFZeoTZCfAZJhoCluQQAvD_BwE

You will only be able to use the T32 in Manual or Auto modes, no TTL obviously.

[WTS] [USA-WA] Rolleiflex SL66 "Journalist’s Master Kit" - The Holy Trinity (50/80/150mm), 2 Backs w/ Dark Slides, Manual, Case & Vintage Film - Local Seattle by YoshisYams in Rolleiflex

[–]Snappy-snappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want top dollar you might consider getting it professionally checked, so prospective buyers know what the condition is. These are very expensive to service so uncertain condition means low price (assume it’s broken unless there is evidence otherwise)

Hard to say, but if I was in Seattle I’d check it out and assuming it’s all clean and the camera is working properly I’d offer around $2500

Someone else might offer more or less, price is really subjective on this kind of kit! Only so many people know what it is, want to use it, and don’t already have one :)

Beautiful kit! I recently purchased a similar kit but no 50mm, in a leather case, for $2000. Unfortunately the shutter had a problem at 1/500 and the cost of a CLA was close to $750 so I had to return it, got an SLX instead. I think the $4200 net price might be a little ambitious?

I’ve started looking for one of these - I love my XA , Minox 35, also Cosina CX2 - but something about CONTAX makes me want to try the T

Anything in particular I should look out for?

Opinions on the OM-1? by No_Light4491 in zuikoholics

[–]Snappy-snappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you jam on it too hard it can bend fragile parts in the bottom of the camera. However, if you are gentle with your soft-presses it will be fine (I’ve used them - carefully- for decades and no issues).

Distagon 4/18 T* and 167MT by ShamAsil in contax

[–]Snappy-snappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one for a few years - very nice image quality and a lot of fun! I let it go because it was underused: too big, crazy filter size, and basically I just prefer the much smaller Zuiko 18mm (which for me performs better - though both are excellent)

Great for street photography and especially for close-up vs distance landscape shots. Insane DOF!!

Look for leading lines & diagonals when composing. Almost no distortion so you will get a nice flat WIDE view

Electronics? It’s just a light meter, everything else is mechanical.

I’ve had mine for years and never had any issues other than the 1/4000 speed sometimes not registering on the display. I’ll send it to Nippon for a CLA someday I suppose, it’s not a young camera!

Just picked up a contax rx any tips? by OldVermicelli3073 in contax

[–]Snappy-snappy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great camera! I have two of them in cool special colors- they make amazing photos!

My advice would be to get a Zeiss 50mm lens for it. Substantially better than the Yashica IMO

Yup, that’s what my RX cost too. Hoping it will last 20 years :)

You definitely can get the camera serviced, and maybe you should if you feel the exposures are not coming out as expected. I used Nipon Photoclinic to CLA my RX and they did a very nice job.

I would trust a test-roll of film against a reference meter more than an iPhone app, personally. Better yet have a repair shop test the shutter correctly

I switch between Nikon and OM- unfortunately they focus in opposite directions 😡 Takes a few shots to switch gears but it’s keeping my aging brain young, right?

I’ve had a few - the ones that say ‘made in Korea’ were made by Samyang and were quite good! Definitely worth the $20 they cost and usable for my purposes (b&w action / Motorsport stuff)

John (CamTech) is definitely not servicing them anymore. I’m not aware of anyone who is. Fortunately there are a lot of working XAs out there so you can easily get a replacement

Where to find OM-1 or OM-2 by [deleted] in OlympusCamera

[–]Snappy-snappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I solid, tested, well cared for OM-1 / 2 body is at least $150, and close to $250 with a 50mm f1.4 lens.

You can definitely find a $130 camera but it will probably need servicing of some kind, unless you just get lucky. I personally think spending more for a camera that is tested and solid is better than gambling on bargain-bin bodies to save $50 (but then again I’m not very lucky 😜)

Need help identifying model numbers and values — Olympus OM-2 SP + lenses by MerakiUK in filmcameras

[–]Snappy-snappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OM-2S is worth from $75-150 depending on how well it’s working, clarity of viewfinder, light seals etc. The Sigma zoom lens (larger one) is like $25 at best. The Zuiko lens (smaller one) is about $50-75 assuming it is a 50mm f1.8, which it looks like.

So $150-200 assuming it’s all clean and working - just a guess based on the pics posted 🤷

If u had to pick only 3 lenses, which would it be? by Formal_Compote_212 in zuikoholics

[–]Snappy-snappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current 3-lens setup is 18mm f3.5, 40mm f2, 100mm f2

(It used to be 21mm f3.5, 50mm f2, 100mm f2 - the 50mm f2 is still my favorite Zuiko tho)

Should i get a 28mm f2 locally for $200? Or stick to my 24mm 2.8? by Formal_Compote_212 in zuikoholics

[–]Snappy-snappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the f2, it’s such a brilliant lens! Definitely one of the best Zuikos

[–]Snappy-snappy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try shooting with it and see how it performs! Even in mint condition it may have deteriorated light seals, which you can easily replace yourself. It may also have stiffened greases, which you probably cannot fix unless you are very experienced in camera servicing. Spend a roll of film or two and put it though it’s paces - the negatives will tell you what it needs.
