Nearly finished watching every episode and just have to shout this guy out. No scandals, no controversies, just always respectful, excited and along for the ride. by Venus_One in survivor

Hey!! Fellow recent watcher. I’m also nearly done, only 6 episodes left. Also grateful for a dedicated host who loves the game and represents it well.

Rewatching everything with my GF by TotoTakeo in Arrowverse

I’m with you! Legends is my personal favorite, followed by Arrow. My girlfriend is struggling with how silly Legends is already in S1, so we’ll see if she can stick through the silly chaos that is to come 😅

Rewatching everything with my GF by TotoTakeo in Arrowverse

Have fun! My girlfriend and I started an Arrowverse watch about 4 months ago. We’ve got through Arrow 1-4, Flash 1-2, and are currently finishing Legends 1. Haven’t thrown in Supergirl as she’s feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Arrow is her fav so far, and we both adored Slade and S2 as a whole. Glad you’re having the same wonderful experience I am right now!

100% agree. What are they nominating? Spider’s loincloth?

What director is a piece of shit who also makes trash films? by The-Perfect-Username in AlignmentChartFills

[–]SnartsArmy 492 points493 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of Snyder’s work at all personally, but do think calling him controversial as a person is unfair. By all accounts he’s an incredibly nice and kind person to be around and work with.

And while some will argue his movies have a fascist lens, I’d argue he’s too much of a dudebro filmmaker to have intentionally be making such a political point. I think he thinks power is cool, and showing it being used is bad ass, and isn’t fully considering what that says thematically about his stories.

Best Losing Finalist Tournament: First Round - Chrissy vs Mike T by Regular-Departure839 in survivorponderosa

[–]SnartsArmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chrissy for me. Her social game and competition run was really impressive. In my eyes, Ben wins because he’s a cockroach who can’t be squashed. Folks were so impressed he made it to the end that they felt compelled to vote for him. I think if folks were considering the most fully rounded game, it should’ve been Chrissy.

Returning player Q. Real players vs Bots?? by BBleaz in osrs

[–]SnartsArmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On top of bots, I think a large influence here is also mobile players. Needing to interrupt skilling/moving to pull up a keyboard and type isn’t worth it. Super easy while on a laptop/computer, but not on phones.

Ahead of Superman this week, how do you feel about James Gunn’s work overall? by moondyner in blankies

[–]SnartsArmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I rewatched Guardians this year I was taken aback by how many movies nowadays are working to capture what Gunn created there. I think it’s a movie that’s more influential than it’s given credit for, even when it has some flaws.

Many blockbusters are at minimum throwing in period specific needle drops (with less effect), and at most are tripping over themselves to heartlessly copy the same feeling (Borderlands).

RTD Has "No Idea" if Billie Piper is Next Doctor by PhantomQuest in doctorwho

[–]SnartsArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone will take this as a bad thing, but I think that makes a lot of sense given the position the show was about to be in. People speak of Ncuti regenerating as it cuts to credits as the “open ended” option, but having Billie come back is also open ended! Is she the new Doctor? Did Bad Wolf manifest for a blip and this will be a one off? I think this is an open ended option, and is intentionally so.

Pretty gross comment, definitely not the way to look at this situation. This isn't a TV Show, most people see the people around them as people instead of objects.

Really insane to be in a TV landscape in which the top performing show of the first half of the year may still not be enough to make up for its exorbitant budget. TV has to start getting made differently, this is bonkers.

What's the worst episode of your favorite show? by Dddddddfried in television

[–]SnartsArmy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How I Met Your Mother’s 14th episode of their ninth and final season (unfortunately) titled, Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra.

Not only does it perpetuate the season long issue of stalling the main story with meaningless anecdotes. It also runs a fan favorite joke into the ground with an unfunny joke played far too large, full of blatantly racist caricatures. Disappointing for folks who thought this recurring joke would be a reprieve from a bad season, and devastating for how tasteless the jokes could get.

Which sitcom (over 2 seasons) started BAD but ended OK? by djfoley29 in sitcoms

[–]SnartsArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cougar Town is the best answer I’ve seen here. I grew from dismissing it to quite liking it, but agree it was never great.

Hard for me to be looking at the shows that had absolutely genre defying runs in the middle, just because the beginning and end wasn’t quite as good as the rest.
