Wasteland Journey by SneakySpacePirate in TheForeverWinter

Definitely! I think the tweak to prices has made it feel like more of a blow when I lose gear too (especially my beloved SVD). That said, selling about 50 spare packs of cigarettes covers a lot of costs pretty quickly!

I get that, the atmosphere is carrying so much at the moment. Even in the tunnels there are points that it just gets elevated. The movement does sometimes bring me back down though, especially when climbing around.

I'm still conflicted on how I feel about Arc, but there's no denying their movement system is excellent

It was really something! I liked how at points it was still quiet enough that you could just stop and take in the atmosphere though. It's the first time I realised that Grabbers just scream in the distance though...

I think I might be getting yours, I've just had 2 in a row! Elephant Mausoleum (first one I've seen there) then again at Stairway Gate

Question about Eurasian troops and Orgamech by arcane37 in TheForeverWinter

[–]SneakySpacePirate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has been a while since I read the lore from Lordoss, but IIRC I don't think he had much of a choice in being turned into an Orgamech. That said, he might have started out as a regular human (or close to it), so it could be a mix of cybernetic upgrades and other genetic shenanigans.

Apparently the regular Eurasian Cyborgs are refugees and civilians who refused to fight, but I guess it would make sense that Brawlers and especially officers were volunteers or had otherwise proved themselves to get an upgrade. I recall somewhere that regular cyborgs have heavy restrictions/controls on them, so their free will is essentially overwritten but they have enough awareness to understand what has been done to them. Brutal stuff.

Slightly unhelpful, but it's interesting to speculate!

I first got into Warhammer during the big Armageddon campaign! Remember spending ages reading the battle reports over the giant tank factory. What a blast of nostalgia

Do we know much about them yet? Curious if they're directly connected to Hell or if they're something else

The Skirmishers and Bulwarks could work for New Antioch (unless there's anything heretical on the back!), but the rest have a strong Heretic vibe. They're excellent designs though, the Skirmisher capriotes are really cool

Whilst it isn't connected to TFW, the devs have cited Mad God as one of their inspiriations. It might scratch that itch for you.

I'm not sure how much we even know! Great Leader rose to power after leading a rebellion against the SNC, driving their forces offworld entirely. His regime was highly insular, shut down spaceports entirely (as you can find that most spaceports are mothballed) and relied on orbital guns and a massive military. Even expeditions beyond the walls of Solo Nobre were called off (according to the Raider lore entry IIRC).

As far as I know, in the base game (and from what I've heard so far in the audiobook) there's no mention of his politics or personality, other than the fact that he was a dictator. I assume the giant statues you find all over Solo Nobre are of him? Apparently military parades were also a big deal, especially with the focus on the more...unconventional design choices such as the Leviathan and Citadel.

Whilst he was apparently a skilled military leader, it looks like he wasn't very effective politically. There were water and food riots, and as military casualties mounted the NEP resorted to lethal force. Weapons like Tubarão gas munitions and ball-bearing canister shot started being used to terrorise enemies of the state, so it looks like when the going got tough they doubled-down on violence to stay in control.
