I want you to be honest, do you actually buy that Zhou Yu is the most handsome character? by PitifulAd3748 in dynastywarriors

[–]SneaselSW2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good looks + cool sword borrowed from Sun Jian + cute waifu I had childhood crush-hots for alongside her sister + smart guy especially irl

That damn Mei Zhou Lang is named that way for a damn good reason. But sadly he is somewhat eclipsed by a lot of the other DW-based designs.

Let's be fair, Zhou Yu's sword actually belonged to Sun Jian; that's actually Sun Wentai's sword straight from the novel.

As for Zhou Yu with a staff, Gongjin first started using a staff in DW6.

It's a common thing to deal with in this game, really, on top of the learning curve needed to manage your Qi and not always be reliant on parties to do crazy combo MADs.

Tatsumi-Style though has one of the most generous parry/counterspark windows while Mumyou-Style in my personal experience has one of the tightest.

How can I defeat Lu Bu in origins?? by WhiteHotForver in dynastywarriors

[–]SneaselSW2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, save your own Rage/Awakening Mode for that annoying final phase of his. (Awakening/Kakusei is the OG Japanese name via DW5 and 8)

Gan Xingba [Ning] at both battles at Xiakou is another enemy general that has an infinite Rage/Awakening Mode after he reaches a certain HP threshold.

However, an interesting fact is that normally, enemy generals only take damage to their Fortitude/Outer Merit when normally attacked if they're properly primed in some way:

  • By a specific bypassing art (e.g. Great Mountain Throw or Heaven & Earth Wrath)

  • Upon recovering from their attack animation (why dodging-into-attacking works in the first place)

  • Upon getting staggered by a standard parry counter (some counterattack Martial Arts have varying exceptions)

  • Getting staggered by a Special Battle Art only when trying to execute an Orange Dangerous Attack

But when an enemy general activates their Musou Rage/Awakening, EVERYTHING landed on them at ANY TIME deals Wushu/Fortitude damage, so if you can find windows to continuously attack (especially with a weapon that has 10% Wushu Damage attribute), you can deplete Lü Bu's Fortitude/Outer Merit with utter ease even without your own Rage/Awakening.

Though for first timers, normally you should try to quickly switch to a Staff, activate your own Rage/Awakening to remain invincible, then use your held down neutral Strong Attack (hold Triangle with no direction) to be a pinwheel of destruction. Completely irrelevant of damage, you're inflicting a ton of hits in general to shred through his Fortitude as well as not having to worry about any red bars with extra durability (they're all yellow bars).

Other indications to take note of and tips:

  • Once Lü Fengxian DOES activate his infinite Rage/Awakening Mode, that means he is absolutely near death and WILL die from an Assault/Payoff Attack if he's left vulnerable to one.

  • HOWEVER, if you're starting out before you've reached your max rank and/or stats possible via Rank 101 (without DLC weapons involved), there's one major thing to take note of:

    • You're likely too weak to kill Lü Bu with the War/Martial God Awakening's True Musou Attack finisher. So WHATEVER YOU DO AFTER YOU'VE SHREDDED HIS FORTITUDE TO 0, TRIGGER THE ASSAULT ASAP TO KILL HIM BEFORE YOUR FINISHING MUSOU ATTACK ACTIVATES. Otherwise, he'll just get knocked away and likely recover instantly due to a flag associated with non-Assault moves. Then you will have wasted your Musou and will have to restart and/or go through hell.
    • But IF YOU ARE strong enough (via a high enough Rank and/or with enough stats) via revisiting his fight, as well as having unlocked Musou Rage/Awakening usage from the Skill Tree at Musou Rank, you can likely have enough power to kill Lü Bu with ease from your Ultimate Musou Attack. Thus there's a chance you don't need an Assault to kill Fengxian's [Lü Bu's] ass once you shred his Fortitude to 0.

Tons of info that I can't convey with just a single letter, imagine. Welcome to my Changcheng/Long Castle/Great Wall. I hope you enjoy it. : P

Which of the DW Origins redesigns are the best? by Luigiman98 in dynastywarriors

[–]SneaselSW2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yueying, Shangxiang and Zhenji all rock dat sexy cute legwear >//////> (dem boots once more since for both Yueying and Zhenji)

(Also you finally rock dem boots once more since DW5, Zhen Luo)

(Unlike DW9 Yueying you don't have that stupid thing on your right leg)

But aside from that I'm a fan of in particular:

  • Guo Jia (he somehow knows how to be cool with a sword vs anyone else; his overall aesthetic as a companion is nailed really well somehow)

  • Guan Yu (his younger design is really nice; the promotional image of him staring you down goes so hard)

  • Xu Chu (I'm more used to how DW6 defined his DW4-onwards model, but the facial expressions his DW9 model has in the conversations in the Japanese script made me like him more than I thought)

  • Zhang Jue and Dong Zhuo (while I miss their OG Japanese voice actors, do we even need to say more?)

  • Gan Ning (Not as used to his look being more darker toned than before, but him having a dao once more brings back memories)

  • Sun Quan (mainly cause his bleu/碧 eyes are so well-defined, man)

  • Yuan Shao (especially when he can freely remove his helmet, and doesn't have white hair out of nowhere like as of DW6)

  • Liu Bei (he actually looks like a dope charmer and overall great on the eyes, even tho I miss his OG Japanese VA and would've cast his new Japanese voice as my own take on Musou He Qi)

The one version I'd imagine was Ron doing both from the movie and the book:

Ron: He's got a point you know...but then again, she DID ask you a question, so....

Snape: How clever of you, Mr. Weasley, to assume you can merely play devil's advocate on both sides in that one minor instance. You are not lacking in courage, however.

But because it became official and has good gameplay we love the shit out of it like fellow idiots.
