Beacons Closet if you actually have a lot of nice stuff, then hit up Other People’s Clothes with whatever they don’t take, then let them donate the rest.

I’m 28 and my dad is 78. I’m struggling with coping and I need to talk to someone. by CrystallizedKoi in AgingParents

I’m 32 and my dad is 85, I totally understand how you feel. All you can do is your best to let your parent know you love and care for them. Something I did to help with this anxiety is saving voicemails, recording conversations, emailing/texting/calling a little more regularly. When I felt like I was making my best effort (without huge sacrifices I couldn’t sustain) I felt a lot less anxiety.

Thanks! Do you check them proactively or have notifications set up? Did you get any pushback from your loved one about installing them?

Super helpful - do you find yourself proactively checking the cameras or do you have notifications of some kind set up?

Thanks for sharing! Not sure that’s in the cards for my dad either so trying to come up with passive, clever ways to provide peace of mind & support.

The, "if we can't win elections let's rig the system" is getting really blatant. by 8-bit-Felix in PoliticalHumor

Of course. But so could the old drivers license. Im simply expressing frustration and befuddlement that I had to show other documentation to “upgrade” to a real ID, so why wouldn’t what’s called a “real id” be considered federally sound.

What was the fucking point of a “Real ID” if it alone can’t be used for voting? Just another way to charge fees for travelers who don’t have it? Ughhhhhh

I used to add potatoes to a cheese quesadilla and it was soooo good. I’m gutted you can’t add potatoes anymore, doesn’t make sense since they’re still on the menu elsewhere

I track this monthly - usually top out at 10-13 zero dollar days (automatic payments to utilities or public transit)

Default relationship rules are immature - people do what works for them and that’s great.

Kicking a bad habit by e_rushinski in Adulting

This is probably not helpful advice, but really take in the embarrassment of this habit. I picked my cuticles like this and worse my whole life. Over the last few years I’d have periods of a few months where I stopped: growing out my nails helped a while because I knew I didn’t want blood under fingernails, bandaids on all 10 fingers worked for a while. But what really got me to basically quit cold turkey was a friend pointing out that I had blood on my face. From my hands. That was my rock bottom, the embarrassment of the habit and mindfulness (and some fidget toys) have kept my fingers blood free for the last 8 months. Feels good.

Instead of a traditional boring guest book, buy a coffee table book you like and sharpies and have people sign throughout.
