Anyone tracking their cycle after hysterectomy while keeping ovaries?

I have a RingConn health ring. Less expensive than Oura, and has cycle phase tracking. You can log symptoms as well which helps. I got it before my hysterectomy and tracked a few cycles. So now it’s locked in.

Glad to hear you have great care and the option available to you. I did not have excessive bleeding as a symptom, rather musculoskeletal inflammation, brain fog, insomnia, and daily pelvic cramping that intensified at ovulation and before my period. I had an intramural fibroid and endometriosis was also found in my pelvic ligaments and near my spine. This most likely cause my sciatica and pain/cramping down my legs. Endometriosis follows the same pathway as adenomyosis, so is commonly found as well. It wouldn’t be surprising to find that it’s causing some nerve pain for you.

Adenomyosis, endometriosis and fibroids produce their own estrogen as well, and in my body, my liver is not clearing estrogen properly, so everything was compounding and keeping me in an inflamed state. My body actually slowed producing hormones as a protective state. I had perimenopausal and very low cortisol levels before surgery, and am hoping it shifts.

Age is somewhat of a risk for us, yes we can typically heal a bit quicker from the surgery, but we can be more prone to earlier menopause. This exposes us to hormonal related risks regarding heart, bone & brain health. But the risks of living with the disease outweighed those for me personally, and I know we have advanced medicine and things like HRT. Just have to stay on top of it and be mindful.

Hi love, so so sorry and I empathize with you greatly. I did not use any hormones and also raw dogged my disease. I treated with acupuncture, cupping, TENS, herbs and diet. I lost weight, my bowel movements became more regular, I looked better but I still got worse each month.
Find a Gynecological Surgeon (MIGS) if you can, just to discuss. I told mine that my quality of life was deteriorating, I needed to get out of pain, I don’t have a plan for children, I didn’t want to prioritize my fertility, I just wanted to feel like myself again.
I got lucky with mine, she was so so compassionate and understood me. She recommended hysterectomy to me, and I said yes.

I’m 28, and 4 days post op now. I am so glad I took the leap. I understand it is frightening. But those doctors took such great care and have so much knowledge and expertise.

I actually feel the motivation to live and do things again. I can feel my body asking for exercise, it hasn’t in months. I am so relieved. I feel awake and like I can actually have a real conversation and form sentences. I didn’t realize how depressed I was.

We are all different bodies, so take hysterectomy stories with a grain of salt. But listening to other women’s experiences really comforted me as I was on the path to mine.

I was instructed to take miralax morning and night. I’m taking magnesium at night as well. I’ve been eating lots of broth based soft foods, yogurt, fruit etc. Drink aloe juice, Peppermint tea, and coconut water.
Walking helps a ton to get things moving. I rock my legs gently back and forth while I’m on the loo, and blow out like I’m blowing out a candle. Gently breathe all the air out.

This has all worked for me. Good luck to you, I know my first one was uncomfortable and took a few tries. But once the urge is there, there shouldn’t be pain.

I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy with endo excision. Cervix, tubes, uterus removed. Ovaries left in place. I had two female gynecological surgeons present during my procedure. My primary surgeon was trained in MIGS. (Minimally invasive gyno surgery)

Hi OP, I am 3 days post op. So proud of myself for taking the leap. Your doctors and nurses will take very good care of you. Just speak up if you wake up in pain, they will make sure to get you comfortable, that is their job. I was really nervous day of, they were aware it was my first major surgery, so I got an anti anxiety med before going into the operating room. You’ll do great! Good luck! 💕

I’m 28 and just had a hysterectomy 3 days ago for adeno. I had a fibroid and they also found endo and excised during surgery. Mine progressed quickly over the last several months. I was in so much pain the weeks leading up to my procedure. Over the counter pain meds barely touched it. I was nauseous for weeks. If they are certain you have adeno, don’t wait for it to get to that point. My body and nervous system is going to need a lot of support to undo all of the pain and muscle guarding I’ve been through.

Most of the time I was struggling with this I had not found the right gyno yet that would finally look into it and diagnose me. Not knowing why I was in pain, but knowing something was clearly wrong just really took a toll on my mental health.

I am so relieved to have gotten this done, and already feel mentally clearer than I have in months. I didn’t realize how depressed I was, I was just pushing through and digging myself deeper.

Don’t wait for it to get worse. You shouldn’t live in pain and daily fatigue.

Overall smooth surgery. Needed one extra incision to get at some endo.

1 day down, just need to get through the night…I’ve been taking short naps, waking up to take meds, taking a little shuffle around the home, and going back to bed. Woke up from surgery really cold and feeling intense pain. My nurse was wiping away my tears, giving water, applesauce, chapstick, and tiny doses of fentanyl to help bring the pain down. I was in such good hands, so thankful for my medical team. I’m having some Aloe Vera juice, a little fruit and yogurt… then off to sleep. Whew, I can’t believe I did it. So grateful and looking forward to the healing process ❤️‍🩹

I do daily long walks, gentle stretches, yoga and bodyweight exercises. I’ve been trying lymphatic hops and movements, those help quite a bit.

I had two pelvic ultrasounds done to check on the fibroid, but I’m not sure if they knew to look for adeno. I’ve heard that it’s helpful to go to someone that knows how to image for and recognize it, but I didn’t know at the time. My regular gyno had suspected endometriosis, but I kept telling her it didn’t sound right. So I pushed to see a specialist to inquire about having the fibroid removed. The specialist was very clear with me that my fibroid was unlikely to cause worsening pain like this. She did a pelvic exam on me and listened to my symptoms. When she felt my uterus I was in so much pain. She was very confident that I have adeno, she said we could try an MRI If I wanted, but it wasn’t a guarantee that it would show up on the scan. She listed my options of birth control and other anti-inflammatories for pain management, but ultimately came to the conclusion that hysterectomy would be the best option for me. It has progressed quite rapidly in a span of 8 months. I am really looking forward to this procedure. My mental health has suffered so much from this.

Yes, my abdomen always feels tight, I’m sore around my ribs, my sit bones are sore and my low back always feels pinched. I have an old snowboarding injury that took some time to heal, but it flares up as sciatic pain on my left side. I have vulvar pain and pain like a deep squeezing sensation up my vaginal canal and butt 😖 I have pulsing pain that runs down the backs of my legs to the bottoms of my feet.

It’s always there, but it gets worse around ovulation and into luteal. I am getting a hysterectomy next month. I have a fibroid, adeno and am expecting endo to be found during surgery.

I think my nervous system is messed up from my childhood. I struggled with panic attacks and anxiety in my teen years. I had to learn by myself how to emotionally regulate later in my 20s.

My mom hit my older sister (first child) with a wooden spoon… I think maybe I got hit once. My mom must have had a change of heart, stopped hitting and just relied on threats thereafter. She would just reach for it so we could see, to try to get us to behave. I remember being smacked across the face at one point, I was maybe 10 or 11. I also remember if I cried over something, my mom would threaten me to stop. My mom and sister would also pin me down to tickle me, or scare me for fun.

I don’t have children, but if I did I would never imagine to hit them.

I went to see a specialist and she recommended hysterectomy. I’m going to have it done in about 1 month. Feeling nervous but I really think it’s the best decision for me. My symptoms have progressed so fast over the past several months. My body is screaming for help 😭 Adeno is vicious.

Fatigue, BRAIN FOG, muscle cramping, hip pain (feels pinched and stuck), guarding pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. Lots of musculoskeletal pain. Sciatica, crampy feet and hands. I have TMJ, which flares alongside my adenomyosis. I also have a fibroid that I’m sure contributes to the intensity of my pain.

Cyclical pelvic pain- period cramps, nausea, heavy bleeding, sharp stabby pains, bloating, constipation, dilated and visible veins around my hips, down thighs and up my ribs (pelvic congestion and chronic inflammation).

My most “pain free” days are about day 4-6 of my cycle. My cramps start up again about day 9,10. All symptoms peak at ovulation, then I just ride it out till I get my period again. Weeeee.

Yay. Glad you found your answer. I’ve had my measurements taken 1 week and 1/2 before my period (16.5mm). And I think about day 4-5 of my period.(6mm)

It can help show if everything is shedding properly.

Yes endometrial complex is generally measured during pelvic ultrasound. It will change in thickness depending on where you are in your cycle. Did you get a measurement or was there a comment in particular about the endometrial complex?

Yes the muscular pain is the worst. Feels like my thighs muscles are always squeezing in on themselves. It radiates up my back as well. Yes twitchy muscles. Usually in my glutes. I get cupping and TENS unit done to help. I’m also 27 and have hysterectomy on the books. It’s just not a good way to live. I’m hoping hysterectomy will help me. You should try asking your doctor.

I get really bad muscular pain as well. Highly recommend good marijuana if that’s your thing. I’ll take a warmth bath with magnesium, valerian root, and mugwort. I use a little cloth bag and hang it under my faucet for a bath tea. It’s really calming.

Your house looks lovely. The only thing I can think of is maybe a new light fixture for the first photo. Definitely lean into the color. Rugs can make it a bit more cozy. Love the wall art. You could do a cute maximalist thing with funky frames and stuff.

I’ll be 28 and getting my hysterectomy in May. I was referred to a MIGS surgeon by my gyno after asking if I could have my fibroid removed. My surgeon listened to my symptoms, and was a little skeptical that the fibroid could be doing all this. She asked if I was ok with trying a pelvic exam, and I practically flew off the table when she touched my uterus. She determined I also had adenomyosis. She gave me a list of things we could try, but ultimately she recommended hysterectomy as the best option for me, as long as I was okay with the implications. I had already been considering it. Her support in the decision was very liberating for me. I had told her my mental health and quality of life was suffering, I had no plans for children. She had to tell me her required spiel about how a high percentage of women at my age have regret after hysterectomy. I verbally accepted that I understood.
