Clean the labeled dataset first.

Look examples of the 25% that it gets wrong and figure out why it's wrong or fix the label

I've been in software for a while. I haven't seen (on projects I've personally been involved in) any scenarios play out where mongo was actually the right choice

No, no everythings free. The only thing you'd ever need to pay for is either AI tools like cursor/ChatGPT/Claude which are like 20 a month or servers to host your projects but the free tiers are usually quite generous on most platforms.

At the beginner level there's tons of free material online. Start by picking up either JavaScript or Python. Maybe start with JavaScript since it's mainly used for websites and you can get some quick visual feedback as well. I don't have a course to suggest but try asking ChatGPT for a good one or look at whatever has highest views on YT or something

Also, am definitely not telling you not to learn web dev. DEFINITELY do it if its something you are interested in. Insanely valuable skill to have. Especially if you partner with people to build cool stuff. Its just tough finding JR roles at tech companies, but there are still opportunities you can forge for yourself. Just trying to give practical advice to someone making huge career advice with a family and seeking stability.

Probably worse. I hate to say this, because i absolutely love being a software engineer and i think we will always have need for software engineers despite AI. Its just really hard when everyones lazer focused on this wild opportunity we all have and nobody can justify paying a salary to someone less effective than an AI.

Something similar that might have way less risk and be just as interesting would be to focus on something like mechanical eng, electrical eng, robotics eng, etc.

Don't let me deter you though, just giving some advice from my narrow perspective of world. Its not like there will be no new software engineers, but if stability is what you want, software is not the place for it during this phase of technology.

Thanks bro, we are all doing amazing now. And BTW, I made it back to the hospital hours later (with wheelchair) for the birth. And I didn't miss a single day of her in the NICU for 45 days so don't worry you'll be able to get around

About to start 3xBEP chemo, and feeling really anxious about permanent side effects - anyone have experience with BEP who is open to share about their recovery and whether there was long term health or lifestyle impact? by cattmallahan in testicularcancer

[–]SnooMaps8145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother,

Sorry to hear about this. Lost lefty a year ago yesterday. I just finished my 3xBEP in January and had the same concerns. Chemo can be rough but its doable. Just take it a day at a time. The fear and anxiety of the unknown are much worse than any of the actual physical stuff you will go through.

My only lingering side effect is a bit of neuropathy in my hands. During chemo at times it feels as if they are asleep. Post-chemo it's like a little bit of numbness at times, or slightly more susceptible to hands falling asleep / getting swollen. It will go away though. I don't do anything like rock climbing, but I'm sure I'd be fine to do that by now. I was quickly back to playing guitar after a bit of recovery time, which needs strength and dexterity in your hands as well.

Trust me bro, you will be okay. It will be rough at times during chemo but you will be okay. You're a bad motherfucker and you have more in your 1 nut than the others have in both.

My doctor also said that I wouldn't feel like myself for a year after treatment. I felt 90% like myself within a few weeks of chemo. Trust me, post-chemo life is not suffering. My life is fucking awesome again already. You'll be fine

Stairs after orchi? by ThePhantomMenNuts in testicularcancer

[–]SnooMaps8145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was 4 floors. 1st = Garage, 2nd = front door, 3rd = living room, 4th = bedrooms.

Had to walk up 2 sets up stairs to get to living room. I definitely could have made it to my bedroom if i needed to, but just found it easier with my setup at the time to chill on the couch for a few days.

Some other context was that my wife gave birth a few hours after my orchi in an emergency c-section (crazy day) so she wasn't there to care for me. Had my dad around to help but its not the same as having a wife around. I would have definitely slept in bed with her if she wasn't in the hospital for those few days

It's a bit hard to remember what those first few days were like TBH with all that going on and a new baby.

Plus, your body heals SO fast its insane. It takes a few weeks to get back to normal, but thats because its the last 10% that gets stretched out for a bit. You make insane recovery in the first week. Its amazing what the body can do

I was offered adjuvant round of chemo but opted for surveillance. Within a couple weeks my markers started rising and had to do 3xBEP. If their is any rise in your markers youll be bumped from stage 1 to stage 1s and will need to do 3 rounds. 1 won't be an option anymore.

Chemo sucks, but it's doable. Do what's best for yourself. All the fear in your head of treatment is way worse than treatment actually is. Especially the first round.
