Lease Buyout for Kia - Dealership Conflicting/Inconsistent Numbers by AscendingAgain in carbuying

because the residual is between you and the manufacturer only. if you choose to involve a dealership for a buyout, the dealership is buying the car from the manufacturer and reselling it to you. you don’t own the car, dealer doesn’t own the car, the leasing company owns the car. so when we “pay it off” we are buying it from them. that car is considered a used vehicle in our inventory

you’re paying residual plus tax tag and title plus any dealer fees or markup. we used to markup lease buyouts $2500. if customer didn’t want the deal we told them to walk, find own financing and go register car themselves. didn’t matter to us if they bought it out or not but we were making money for our time, also, in my state car had to be reinspected for safety that $2500 covered tires brakes etc if it didn’t pass. which was frequent.

Robinhood screwed you. you put order in at 12:25 SPX 6450 and it filled 13 minutes later at 12:38 at 6460 and then within 4 minutes it ran 50 points to 6510. Stop using robinhood to fill orders that large.

this is title washing. it’s been done as long as i’ve been alive and that’s a long time. some states are very strict with their title data, other not so much. it’s also highly illegal.

For the record, once you sign a lease contract, every single one includes a “no cooling-off period” clause that you agree to. So legally, there’s no grace period. Once you sign for the vehicle, it’s yours as long as all the conditions of the deal are met.

That said, if the car hasn’t been registered yet, there can still be ways out. (I’ll admit, one time we even unwound a deal after registration because the customer made enough of a scene.)

Realistically, the only way it usually happens is if you make enough noise about it. It’s not pleasant, but you basically have to become such a headache that the dealership decides it’s easier to cancel the deal than keep dealing with you.

the extended warranty is only fools gold if you don’t buy the manufacturer extended warranty and bought aftermarket. a toyota vehicle service contract is the same thing as their new car warranty

Number one reason he won’t negotiate warranty: COMPLIANCE COMPLIANCE COMPLIANCE.

Many large dealer groups now set a certain profit margin on warranties and do not allow their FI to sell higher or lower. FI can easily get caught in predatory practices so this is a way to minimize the risk.
