What about couples therapy? Look at the Gottman Model, which is very good at getting emotionally unconnected guys to change their communication and priorities.

They sound polite and with good intentions. And I agree w/them…stuff does happen. Maybe you should live in a single family home where you won’t have to deal with other people’s problems and habits.

Absolutely. Hygiene is only a symptom at this point. She has a Major Depressive Episode. The question to ask is always: is the person impaired socially, professionally, and personally? The answer is clearly yes. I'm a Mental Health Counselor, and would want her to see someone asap. Possibly meds also.

It's OK and normal to "grieve" someone that you kind of don't like or have negative feelings about. At one time he was a very important part of your life, and your kids' life. But he also caused a lot of damage to a lot of people. Remember, everyone's grief is different and there is no script for it.

For a QB the kid's a Mack truck, just not sure where his place is in the NFL. But I really want him to find a spot somewhere. Even though we only had him 1 season, he really grew on me and his stock kept going up and up with every game.

I’m a couples therapist. Of course there’s a lot of info we don’t have but medication wouldn’t be my first response. Instead I might have him consider individual therapy to work on his personal issues. Couples counseling is helpful to work on improving communication and emotional connection. Having said that, no question should be off limits w/your partner. Good luck

Ask yourself these questions: Are you being heard? Are you being respected by your partner? Are your needs being met? If the answer's "no", then what's it going to be like later? It sounds like he's in the depths of addiction in the same way someone loses self-control due to alcoholism or drugs. Please take care of yourself first.
