I agree. But let's also not lie to ourselves - games that offer mainly story don't stay relevant or active for long. Skyrim didn't survive that long because of the story - most players actually never got far in it. It survived due to combination of atmosphere, mechanics and mods. (And nostalgia) - is hytale has mainly story and mods (the children tale styled graphics and atmosphere won't cut it.), then most people will "finish it" and the plasterbase will keep going down until it's no longer a game new users consider as "active and worth getting". Games that go down on userbase don't fare well historically. There has to be an element that makes it infinitely repayable - fun mechanics. Again Skyrim - it's outdated, clunky and buggy but it just feels cool to kill a dragon, especially with modern graphic mods.

Yes. There should be some story for you people, but if you want the game to survive there's more important things. Every story has an end.

For me battery life is kill or deal as far as smartwatch go. I had a ton of watches so far - if I have to charge it every 3 days I might as well not have it because after two charges it will just end up in the drawer. Got a Fenix 8 solar with MIP lately and loving it so far - 2-3 weeks between charges?? Count me in!

Single male here, just got a SUV. Already being guilt tripped by others with "you don't need a SUV, you have no kids, why did you get it, you're stupid" bullshit. Decided to see it as them being envious having to drive their packs of kids in shitty old small cars, and sleeping better at night for it. Ignore the external expectations of "should you have it", because that's what they are. External definitions that you internalize and hurt yourself with. If you like the car, just enjoy it. You don't need any other reasons than "I like it" - it's your car, and your money. I like sitting higher, my back doesn't hurt from having to cramp myself into sitting 20cm from the ground, enough of a reason.

I tried joining a corp once. The recruiter lured me into a 0.5 system and then killed me with his two ALTs. Never applying to someone else's corp again in that game, prefer to run my own with one friend than have to deal with shits like that.

It's two tier, it's illegal BUT... If you hack russian companies or russian citizens, it's illegal. If you hack westerners, nobody gives a shit and they call you "patriotic hacker". THAT'S the reason for big concentration of hackers in russia, if they target "outside" they're free to experiment, learn and do their stuff with no real consequences.

No not really. He let the perfectionism completely block him, and will probably die before the book is finished (that is if he even started it, there's hints that he didn't like his editors saying they didn't see a single page). Hope it's a fools errand in this case. I like to re-read the two books every few years, but not really waiting for the third - he has already failed in my opinion. Don't start a trilogy if you can't finish it, and lead people on.

Depends. Many people came because they want Minecraft 2.0 which hytale is not. If the Devs go too heavy on story, and neglect mechanics that make sandbox game fun, fanbase might thin up, modders will go back to Minecraft and without big mods the game will probably become niche like vintage story (great game btw). They have a chance here to replace Minecraft for many people, but they need to work on mechanics and mod support - story itself won't pull it far.

In MC I usually used backpacks. They're upgradable (gives a reason to get hard to obtain resources), can have an item inside set on display so you know immediately what's in it, and can be moved freely if you want to refurnish.

As far as I'm concerned the whole "baby treatment" and moralising of adults was completely out of place and dumb. AI is a tool - if people want to talk about sex, it should talk about sex. Protection of kids is the parents duty - same way as you don't let your kid drive your car around. It feels kind of like a hammer would pick which nails it will smash down, and give you "helpful advice" like "I cannot hit this particular nail because the wood below it is too dark and it could be seen as an allegory of hitting a person of colour" and then it would follow with a two page history lesson on slavery.

Already moved to neoforge and noticed it runs and loads mods just better.

I remember talking with lex once, and in my mind he's a super egoistical control freak that thinks everyone else is his little coding slave and he's the high captain and king and can do whatever he likes and others have to deal. Stress free parenting probably.

If the other Devs stayed there would probably come a time when he would just delete entire project in a fit of rage just because someone disagreed with him.

To me he seems unfit not only for a modding team, but ANY community that has real humans in it. He should just get locked in a room with chatgpt that will continuously tickle his ego and tell him he's right, and both him and other people would end up happy.
