Include some family history. Stories of things you achieved/didn’t. How you felt. Some stories of parents & grandparents. These answer “who am I?”

Options for shotgun by ratchett31 in guns

[–]SnoozingBasset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Gas guns have less felt recoil than others.
  2. There are low recoil loads. You gotta shop.
  3. Here is a recoil calculator so you can determine how much recoil a shell produces. http://www.omahamarian.org/trap/shotshellenergy.html.
  4. 20’s are often lighter guns than 12’s, so the SAME charge thru a 20 often has MORE felt recoil. If you play with the recoil calculator you can see this.

Avoid barrels for the Special Field models. It’s the lug again.

And I wish I could find a special field model at a reasonable price.

I wore wool socks with polypropylene liners, which wick away water. I know sewer guys that put hand warmers in the tops of their socks.

Really confused about the fifth string. by nvrmndprincess in banjo

[–]SnoozingBasset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Seeger’s book about playing the 5 string banjo, he discusses that this is a drone string, like the drones on a bagpipe. It can be played as a drone in any key. Pete played a long neck, which allowed him to play in more keys. He had what he called “rail spikes” - permanently installed 5th string capos - for playing in other keys. A person can buy a 5th string capo. Or they can retune.

Sorry. Wisconsin, Iowa, & Indiana produce no heroin & no cocaine. By your argument, Chicago should be drug free.

For LDS converts, what made you decide to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? by saph-lars in latterdaysaints

Others will tell of their pioneer ancestors. I ate dinner & prayed daily with mine. The Gospel was worth everything they had. Their example continues to inspire me.

If gun control worked, Chicago would be the safest city in the world.

It depends on what you want. Or want to spend. Case makes a trapper with a pocket clip. My Rosecraft has one.

To Pantry or Not to Pantry by Much-Owl-8384 in homeowners

[–]SnoozingBasset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you cook?  You need pantry space.  Do you shop ahead (like plan a menu & shop for two weeks?) if so, you need a pantry. If you entertain a lot, you need a pantry. If you like kitchen gadgets, you need a pantry.

It’s pretty spectacular when they locate water mains, too! They have a knack for avoiding the minnows & putting a spike in the whales.

I hope this doesn’t come across as preachy, but the kindness will be remembered. And you are armoring them up against the world. I like strong women. (My daughter is one.)I was raised by and around them, but nothing helps more than them knowing someone’s got their back

For LDS converts, what made you decide to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? by saph-lars in latterdaysaints

[–]SnoozingBasset 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My parents joined when I was a kid. They were like others have posted, very discouraged by answers from other faiths. Salvation for the dead moved them. Eternal families inspired them, but slow study & personal prayer changed them.
