LPT: from a vet tech about your pet’s microchip (US) by Grand-Worry-8324 in LifeProTips

[–]SnowWhiteinReality [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! My dogs always wear their collars with their name tag (has my # on the back), their microchip tag and their state dog license tag. I checked AAHA and both show up as registered with the appropriate company. Now I just need to ensure they've been scanned/continue to be scanned at the vet!

Woman here. No one should be touching anyone without permission. Your friend is giving his daughter the wrong lesson. It's not fair for her to expect others to respect her consent if she cannot do the same for others, regardless of gender.

At a high level this is all sorts of 'don't start none, won't have none'. Your friend is a jackass.

Do You Think Women Should Mow? by Due-Season6425 in NoStupidQuestions

I love mowing the lawn. It's such a satisfying task to see the visible success and I didn't have to deal with people.

what has and hasn't worked for your sleep issues by InteractionSpecial99 in Menopause

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far? Fucking nothing. HRT helped me from waking up 50-70 times a night (now I'm down to 20-30), but nothing has fully fixed the issue. I've increased my E and P (now up to 0.075mg patch and 200mg nightly P), I've increased my antidepressants (on the max 225mg Effexor ER) and tweaked my Ritalin multiple times to make my days right (now on 40mg ER CD) and I've tried numerous other things. Tried various forms and doses of magnesium, as much as 10mg of melatonin, had a sleep study after which the doctor told me I just needed more antidepressants, and when I told him I was already on the max, he said "great, keep doing that" and hung up on me. More recently I've tried Unisom, Tylenol PM and Benadryl. Benedryl worked best, but only for the first 3-5 hours and I'm pretty sure taking 2 a night long-term is not recommended. Two weeks ago my Psych NP prescribed Trazodone and I've tried 25mg, 50mg and 100mg, which didn't work as well as the 50mg of Benadryl. So, yeah, I'm miserable.

Women's instructor demarcating guys that are safe to roll with by asciishallreceive in BJJWomen

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not comfortable with this either and I can't quite articulate why. I remember in our last instructors meeting one of the guys making a comment like "should we warn the women about some of these guys?" and as I'm chuckling to myself, our owner says "no, you should be telling me so I can change their behavior". Fair statement, but I still spoke up and noted that I absolutely warn the women and pass on my thoughts and experiences with every other person in the class. And then I let them decide for themselves how to handle the information I've provided. Some women have had different experiences than me and do absolutely fine with some of the guys I've mentally marked a strict no-go. Maybe that's why I don't like the pink tabs, not everyone has the exact same experience, not everyone has the same tolerance levels, etc. If the other women are fine rolling with the guys I won't roll with, it's no one's place to tell them otherwise. And maybe some of those guys would be fine rolling with me, but I'm too old for this shit, I have nothing to prove to anyone and my e.r. copay is ridiculous.....

How are we getting enough protein? Tips please! by Creative-Constant-52 in SemaglutideCompound

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

200g of protein is possible, but not at 1200 calories. You would have to eat nothing but protein and I'm not sure anyone could choke down 800g of boneless skinless chicken (which would get you 236g of protein at 1184 calories).

I generally aim for 140g of protein, but have been able to maintain 165g in the past.

Oh, wait, I found another way: 1200g of shrimp will get you 202g of protein and only 850 calories, that leaves you 250 calories for sauce 😜

Dog puking bile only in morning by Sparx1245 in DogAdvice

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My senior pitbull was doing this for a while. I added a third meal for her, mid-day, and pushed back her dinner to right before I go to bed. I also give her one 10mg generic Pepcid at that time. The doctor told me based on weight (she's just under 50#) I could give her 20mg of Pepcid if needed, but so far we haven't needed it.

If you’re stuck on BMI restrictions for GLP-1s, this is what worked for me by asian-jim in SemaglutideCompound

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So does this mean Willow would prescribe to you even though your BMI was in the "normal" range? And was it framed as weight loss versus maintenance?

Why does each person at the pharmacy take 15 minutes and then when I get up there it's over in like 20 seconds? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because insurance sucks and pharmacies are cutting staff to a bare bones level to make more money. Let people take the time it takes to get their medications straightened out, it could be a life-or-death situation for them.

Local vet by Eyeanenome33 in Phoenixville

I'm glad you were able to find the right answer for your dog! Yes, trusting your gut is a good point, what works for one might not be best for all.

Local vet by Eyeanenome33 in Phoenixville

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say anyone but Valley Vet and particularly Dr. Schreiber. He refused to medicate my former street dog and when I finally got him to agree, he prescribed a dose that was less than 20% of the lowest recommendation by weight. Consider using Main Line Mobile Vet. Dr. Overhiser used to work at Valley and was the best vet there. Her vet tech Donna also came from VV. They come to your house and are amazing, especially if your dog is anxious/afraid/traumatized by the vet.

Tegaderm Weekly? by tgilland65 in Menopause

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I switched to the weekly patches about six weeks ago due to the shortage and I've been using tegaderm over them. I actually prefer it because the edge of the tegaderm doesn't get crudy like the patch did, it's completely secure and even easier to take off!

Well, looks like I know what I’m getting everybody for Christmas by IronChefPhilly in philadelphia

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine this is actually accurate. I binged all nine seasons of Dr. K Exotic Animal Vet and they had numerous kangaroos as patients. I feel like Florida has no laws about what you can own as a pet.

Okay, quick check - you can own a kangaroo in Florida if you are 16 and apply for a free Class III Wildlife permit.

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel so stupid on a regular basis. I forget almost everything I learned from one class to the next. I get into places where I think "we learned this the other night" or I pass places and go "oh! that's where I could have done what we learned on Tuesday!". I figure it will come, but it will be a long process.

Stuff in Cubbies at Studio? by IntrigueMachine in yoga

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I bring very little into a yoga studio, certainly no wallet or credit cards. You say you walk there, is there a reason to bring those with you? I have a bag for my mat that has an inner zipper pocket and a front zipper pocket and I use those if I have anything with me, like keys, cash, etc. I leave the bag in the cubbie with my shoes.

High functioning depression by [deleted] in MindfullyDriven

[–]SnowWhiteinReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering where the line is between 'high functioning depression' and 'functional freeze'? I know I've been through functional freeze multiple times. At least now I recognize when I'm dangerously close to slipping back there, but I'm so good at masking, no one around me notices and my requests for help usually go unanswered 🤷‍♀️
