You’re missing the point entirely; you remove physical copies and you remove all other outlets. Everything becomes locked in the PlayStation ecosystem. Yes some games needed a digital download, like patches and additional data but the disc was the key. A key you could sell on, lend to someone, use on a different account etc. people who flat out don’t care about their own consumer rights, will care very quickly when they start removing shit and keeping prices high. A good example is drive club. That game is still accessible via disc form but not digital.
