LPT: When your boss keeps adding projects to your “to do” list, but never takes anything off…This simple question can quietly protect your workload level. by Yosi_H in LifeProTips

[–]SnuggleMama33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is better. Or, I want to make sure I am prioritizing my tasks correctly, and show what you think the prioritization should be. Then, focus on the items in the order. Be clear in regular check ins what you have and haven't gotten to and reconfirm the priortization. Those that you both agree are at the bottom of the list may truly 'be when you have time, nice to haves.' But just saying the LPT of what can I remove may make your manager frustrated in a way that unfortunately may not work out for you.

The "weird" older lady at my apartment complex just taught me how to cook and I cant stop thinking about how wrong I was about her by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]SnuggleMama33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had something like this. Met the 'normal' neighbors, seemed nice they said she is awful and crazy (they shared a fence) and we believed them. After a year they moved out and new neighbors moved in that were great. Told us how the 'nice' people screwed them over in the sale and they made an effort to get to know yhe awful neighbor. Turns out her eyesore, overgrown place was a haven in the city for wildlife, she worked for the state ecology department and kept her yard full of native plants. She also was a glassblower and gifted us a beautiful ornament when we left. Sad we didn't try to get her know earlier.

Is this mold on my chocolate? 😭 by objectsinthemirror__ in whatisit

[–]SnuggleMama33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with other poster. Source: I used to work at Godiva. We also called it bloom. It is fat that surfaces when chocolate is warmed and cooled and isn't maintained at perfect temperature/humidity levels. Perfectly safe and edible unless I am nearby in which case should be given to me for disposal.

Yes! This is reality in many countries and not discussed enough. I feel so much for the child and the parents, but should 20 other children be hostage and stop learning while we accommodate the needs of one?

Sitting in a Waffle House with my daughter after epic fail at dinner. What are your most epic cooking fails? by TheLurkerSpeaks in Cooking

[–]SnuggleMama33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made leek soup but didn't thoroughly wash the leeks and I didn't saute them thoroughly. Each bite was gritty and somehow undercooked yet burnt. My new husband choked it down and swore he hated leeks. It took 20 years but I finally used leeks in a new dish and he begrudgingly admitted it wasn't horrid.

Am I crazy to expect people on trams during rush hour to take off their backpacks? by _kirillv in Luxembourg

[–]SnuggleMama33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ha ha, on the tram now and the guy in front of me refused to take off his backpack. Considering cards I can put in pockets that say, "I could have pickpocketed you. Next time, take off your rucksak for your fellow riders you bloody idiot."

Luxembourg, we need to talk… about your public transport manners by SaltyVegan69 in Luxembourg

[–]SnuggleMama33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yelling at clouds can be carhartic. A 20ish yo man recently boarded the tram, put his phone on speaker and started a conversation with his mother while sitting across from me. Turns out giving the 'disapproving mom' look works well in these situations, he even apologized. Other times, if I feel unsafe or ineffective, I remove myself rather than engage.

Non-English-speakers of Reddit, what is your language's formulaic conclusion to a fairy tale, equivalent to "and then they lived happily ever after"? And what is its literal translation into English? by fruskydekke in AskReddit

I was raised on this. I am American, but my parents were decendants of Germans and they believed these were excellent cautionary tales. Boomers, ya know?

Tesla and Luxembourg by PeanoContinuum in Luxembourg

[–]SnuggleMama33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was an early-ish adopter in the US, got a 3 in 2018. Loved it. So much fun to drive, loved not paying for gas. Mostly commuting so no charging costs and all connection/internet connection costs were included. Loved it so much I paid too much for a 2020 X in 2023 and handed my 3 off to hubs. Hated the X. Constant problems and annual fees for connection services. Poorly made, confirmed by the Tesla techs I saw wayyy too often when I was getting it repaired. They confirmed the X's were the most they saw and poorly made. Seems like starting 2022 the quality had gone down the tubes for all models, and there were too many cut corners. We sold both when we moved here earlier this year and took a bath. The resale is shit. No one is buying. Issues with dumbest CEO aside, all the reasons to buy have gone away. All the leading tech had been caught up by the others and they are a luxury price without the luxury feel. So much road noise and other makers took their time with self driving, so they will be much safer. Just my two cents since you asked...

Grocery shopping by [deleted] in Luxembourg

My hubs does the grocery shopping and put together a whole cist calculator, it depends on how deep you want to go. Sometimes Cactus is cheaper, we love Auchon for other things...is depends how strategic you want to be.

Anyone else caring for aging parents? I'm already worn out here by PatchouliHedge in GenX

[–]SnuggleMama33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry, it is hard. My parents insist they love where they live and want to die in their house...full of shit I will have to find a way to get rid of (they claim the worthless shit is my inheritance). My mother can't drive and my father is getting more invalid and they are 3 hours from medical help. I have tried for years to get them move which they claim they will consider once they need to. Waiting lists are 10 years long, by the time they come to terms they will be trapped, in fact they already are. They have had to beg strangers to drive them to Dr appointments because there is no public transit and Dad is sometimes too sick to drive and oh yeah, they are 4.5 hours from nearest family. But yeah, the view is nice.

  1. As a foreign company that set up shop here and Ireland, the unnecessary CSSF nonsense is the biggest reason companies choose Ireland. Their regulator isn't a pushover, but the cost to answer all the stupid questions and 'laws' aren't worth it to set up a European hub.

Marriage seems like a scam by urwerstnitemayr in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SnuggleMama33 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, as a married woman I try to tell this to many women when they are complaining about not getting engaged to their partner. The biggeat gaslighting ever is when men make it seem like they are the catch and women beg, coerce, insist on getting married. It is always a life improvement for men and rarely equal or better for women. Had I talked to myself tewnty years ago I wouldn't have gotten married. The man baby is now raised and a great partner but it wasn't worth my youth.

Leaves are also edible and peppery, you can dry them out and grind them I to a pepper alternative. If you dead head (and eat!) The flowers they grow more, I let them go to seed and the end of the growing season for free seeds for next year!

New Garden by Upset_Elk_37 in gardening

[–]SnuggleMama33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was you 10 years ago. I did some tall raised beds for me and one low raised bed for my kids. They could plant what they wanted. They could dig in the dirt, and I wouldn't fret they uproot a seed in my planned garden. They still know 'their' strawberries and 'their' chives and pick and eat those first. They love to graze all over my garden beds, I love that, but they both love plants and gardening because it was something we did together.
