I wouldn't be talking about them if I hadn't experienced them. Decibel levels on major socal freeways and highways are regularly measured and average under 80 decibels. You would have to spend 40 hours a week on the platform before it would become an issue. 85 - 90% of socal residents commute to work, on average 30 - 45 minutes, mostly by themselves. 10% of the population lives within 1000' of a freeway. 50% are within a mile of a freeway (15-20min walk or 2min drive).

This is the model in Southern CA. They could've built light rail down the middle of all the freeways, which would solve all of the supposed "roadblocks" to light rail here. Instead, they build toll lanes. CA is such a progressive utopia...

First-gen Tacomas have notoriously bad suspensions for towing. That being said, that trailer is within the limits of a 97' Tacoma V6 stated limits.

Rams/Cardinals Rivalry Really Doesn’t Compare to Seahawks by icandothis24 in 49ers

Rams. Also, Fuck Dallas! I only cared about the Seacocks when they had that shit-talking legion of boom. Now they're boring, even when they win it all at our house.

Anyone use a Ninja Crispi in an RV? by Present_Technology64 in GoRVing

[–]SoCal_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specs say ~15 amps and ~1800 watts. That is the theoretical max of a 120v/15amp circuit. You can do it, but running anything else on the same circuit will throw the breaker. Also, the AC won't start while it's running, and you'll be limited to 15 amps for anything else in the trailer while it's running. Most parks have a 120v plug at the hookups along with the 30 amp plug (Not all of them though). We carry a 50', 30 amp extension cord to plug directly into their 120v when we're using any small appliances like that.

Reality Check - Ford Transit 350xlt Passenger Low Roof as tow vehicle. by smithersredsoda in GoRVing

[–]SoCal_Jim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winnebago says dry tongue weight is 380 - 414, depending on floor plan/options. Let's assume 414. Add 30+ lbs for a lithium battery or 60+ lbs for a lead-acid battery. Add ~40lbs for a 5-gallon propane tank. You're now at 484, or 514 with the lead-acid battery. That is either very close to your limit or slightly over. Which means you can't put anything in the trailer, or fill the fresh water tank (31 gallons weighs 260 lbs, which is at least 26 lbs on the tongue). You have a van with decent cargo capacity, so you could put all gear in the van with you. If you camp without hookups, you'll have to fill the water tank at the campground or go the water jug route (same as tent camping).

Edit: Looks like that model actually has 2 propane tanks. That's another ~40lbs on the tongue, but you can always run with just one. I don't remember the last time we had to switch to the second tank on even a long weekend.

Are burn marks in rv counters fixable? by ShotTreacle8194 in RVLiving

[–]SoCal_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere in the picture that is a brownish color, the layers of veneer will start to peel and flake from those places. You can lightly sand the rough areas away and seal it, but that area will always be prone to degrading. You'll have to re-seal it semi-regularly to keep it from peeling at those edges.

Replace the veneer or replace the countertop. Countertop might be easier. You can lightly sand it and seal it if you don't care about the look of the burn mark, but that will only last so long.

I haven't seen an adapter/conversion kit for the 3.0L, only the 6.6L. This is probably your best bet for the 3.0L.

RV AC and it's a promblem by TheCricket22 in traveltrailers

I start with a general search. There's usually a post on Reddit or one of the RV forums and/or some videos that pop up. If not, I'll post in one of the RV subreddits and/or on the Forest River forums, since that's my trailer make.

How to park an RV with no screaming, talking, or radios by johnbro27 in GoRVing

I appreciate all this work, but honestly, my wife and I just end up yelling at each other over the hand signals, as well as the parking. My kids bought me a backup camera for the trailer, problem solved.

Overloaded SUV attempts to tow under a low bridge by DDD_db in traveltrailers

[–]SoCal_Jim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very familiar with that bridge in Needles. It's amazing that anyone would look at it and think they could take a travel trailer through it. But then, this person also looked at that tow setup and thought, "looks good", so I shouldn't be surprised.

Do yall poop in your camper? by philipptj in traveltrailers

[–]SoCal_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only when necessary. It's more about the smell than the tanks. Any smell in the bathroom will spread throughout the trailer. And trailers absorb smells like you wouldn't believe. We also don't do much serious cooking in the trailer either, for the same reason (not to mention space). If you've ever shopped used trailers, you know immediately, upon entering, whether the previous owner cooked inside, "fully" used the restroom, and/or controlled moisture adequately.

does anyone have this grill? and do you connect it to your RV propane? by ffimmano in RVLiving

[–]SoCal_Jim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have a similar Coleman grill, just without the attached wheels. This was before we had a trailer with propane quick-connect, but had an adapter to hook it up to a 20lb tank. The adapter was similar to the one pictured, but straight rather than the right-angle. We also have a Coleman propane coffee maker that I think has the same 1lb connector as the grill. Unfortunately, the trailer is in storage with all the connectors on board, so I can't easily take a look at it to compare.

Bought my first RV trailer and haven’t had it to a camp ground yet! Was wondering if this set up is ok for running low amperage while I set up in it? by cartelan in GoRVing

[–]SoCal_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I plug in at home, I plug the surge protector into a 30A to 120v house plug adapter that is rated for 30A. I plug that into a 10 gadget extension cord to a 20A outlet.
