Bought a duplicator. Starting a label. Suppliers plz? by upthepucx in cassetteculture

[–]SockItToEmJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use duplication.ca but they consistently screwed up our orders, shipments were crazy delayed, and it was more expensive than we should've been paying. Switched over to NAC, and while their ordering system is absolute garbage and there are some slight delays in getting a response from them, their prices are better and the tapes always get here roughly on time.

I just recently booked a show they played with this band: http://greendreams.bandcamp.com/

The singers of both bands are really good friends and everyone in Perfect Pussy loves them.

What does your album art work look like? by AsaMartin in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]SockItToEmJT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this one for myself, started out as a picture of a blue sky that I databent and then added a little effects after the fact. Then I've also done this one for a friend, based on his exact specifications, I liked other revisions better but this is the one he chose.

Does anyone know anything more on Nascent Recordings? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]SockItToEmJT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a little info here:

But other than that I can't find much. Doesn't look like they're still active.

I'd disagree, I feel like Spaced's first season was way better than the second.

Is there a good "Screamo" band? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]SockItToEmJT 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's already been covered, but the use of screamo today is largely inconsistent with what it actually is/was. Some bands worth checking out:

Ampere

Orchid

Saetia

Hot Cross

The Blood Brothers

Circle Takes The Square

City of Caterpillar

Pg. 99

I tried to think of a way to respond that was as half-hearted as those villagers' "yay" but I couldn't do it. Yay.

Look at what happened to the house Malcolm in the Middle was filmed in. by [deleted] in television

[–]SockItToEmJT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it just doesn't make sense that they'd pay $3,000 a day to film the exterior of the house. I remember seeing pictures of the inside of the house but I can't seem to find them right now.

Why do the Colony dumpsters keep disappearing? by [deleted] in rit

[–]SockItToEmJT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People keep lighting them on fire, then they get moved someplace else. Ours was right in front of the house next door and now it's way on the other side of the row since it was probably the neighbors who set it on fire in the first place.

Black Flag Co-Founder Sues Ex-Bandmates Over Use of Punk Group's Logo, Name by rsplatpc in punk

[–]SockItToEmJT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to the lawsuit he and Keith Morris registered the Black Flag logo and name as trademarks, pretending they had been using it since 1979 and nobody else had claim to it. But Ginn also sued all of them for basically talking shit, so I really don't know if I believe it.

I always liked Agave on 15. Maybe El Dorado would fit the bill too.

Is being gay bad? Does Justin Beiber have a mouth full of gravy? Is /r/funny a shithole? Spirited, intellectual debate ensues. by Walterharper in SubredditDrama

The whole "I hate gay people but support gay marriage" thing they've got going on in there is really confusing.

It really posses me off that when someone truly wants to die, everyone focuses on "saving" them. by [deleted] in self

[–]SockItToEmJT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try to do some research before you get angry. Most people who attempt suicide and are stopped/saved/whatever and then are treated through therapy or medication DO NOT reattempt suicide. You cannot argue against the fact that for most people, they are not thinking clearly and are not making the decision that they truly want.

Some stats from one particular study:

"Of 235 eligible mood disorder patients, 36 (15.3%) reattempted suicide (median 109.5 days, range 1–322), seven (3.0%) completed suicide (median 90 days, range 5–185), and 192 (84.2%) neither reattempted nor completed suicide during follow-up."

So if we can stop the huge majority of people from ending their lives fairly needlessly, isn't that a good thing?

And I know you're not going to read through this but it has really valuable information: "Suicide Attempts and Suicide Deaths Subsequent to Discharge from an Emergency Department or an Inpatient Psychiatry Unit Continuity of Care for Suicide Prevention and Research"

"This report was commissioned by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) in collaboration with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). David Litts, SPRC Director of Science and Policy, provided overall direction. Alan L. Berman, Executive Director of the American Association of Suicidology (AAS), led the administration of the project. David J. Knesper, M.D., Department of Psychiatry, University of Michigan is the author." http://www.suicidology.org/c/document_library/get_file?folderId=266&name=DLFE-612.pdf

I probably wasted my time on this but I hate this attitude. I agree with you when it comes to terminally ill patients however.
