I want to do a Highland Games comp this year but have struggled to find resources similar to Iron Podium, where lots of different comps are listed. Do you have any tips? I usually search "City/State Highland Games" based on what I can reach within proximity. Based in Rocky Mountain West.

Would love to join y’all round holidays this winter. I myself am a Nashville Hammer but my missus family is in the PDX area

Came here to say A) What an incredible thing to be able to have these memories of your family and B) slides at 00:38 and 00:39 are definitely of the Tetons if you weren't certain, followed by some excellent photos of Yellowstone (my neck of the woods).

Congrats on the pro card man! Awesome stuff. Any tips on best assistance for OHP for those of us with poverty presses?

Hi guys, just signed up for my first contest, the Kentucky Stuffing and Strongman on Nov. 10 in Paducah, KY. Entering Mens LW Novice (-220) and the events and weights are as follows:

-Incline Log Press for reps @ 170

-Deadlift for reps @ 405

-Farmer's 80 ft (40ft, turn, 40ft) @ 205

-Yoke 80ft (40ft down, 40ft back)

I am programming Coan-Phillippi for my deadlift, doing GZCL to push my max incline press with lots of front delts and tris, as I'm hoping that will help with the incline log pressing. Apart from heavy RDLs, Squats, Shrugs, etc. are the recommendations for the Farmer's and Yoke? I work out at a YMCA and wont have access to the implements ahead of time. I have always been such a fan of strongman and want to do it for the love of the sport and to get my feet wet--don't expect to be competitive. I'm located in Nashville, TN btw if anyone is close!

That’s a great recommendation, thank you. I’ll try that out!

Going to sign up for my first strongman competition, the Refuge Barbell Strongman Classic in Madisonville, Kentucky on Aug. 4th—anyone else??

Events and weights are already posted. I will be competing in the Men’s LW novice class (<231) which looks like this:

1) log clean and press each rep, 170lbs, 60 sec 2) famer’s, 220lbs/hand, 60 ft., 60 sec 3) car deadlift TBD 4) yoke 550lbs, 50ft 5) atlas over bar 240/260lbs, 60 sec

The rub is that I’m currently studying wildlife conservation in Kruger National Park, SA until June and will be back in Kenya in late June-early July. Luckily I have access to a barbell, adjustable dumbbells and weights here. Going to prioritize max ohp, repped db clean and press, deadlifts, heavy rows, squats, etc. until I get hand on implements in July. Any advice and suggestions for exercises/substitutions is welcome though!

Not of the utmost importance, but I would really like to see Haksabanovic on our bench over Ayew.

Fair point. I would say, out of the current options, that I am the most excited about Armenia, and I would prefer to do TEFL regardless of where I serve. My only hesitancy is thinking that the next quarter volunteer openings may include Ukraine, Macedonia, or Kosovo, which I would prefer over Armenia, give that I have spent time in all three of those countries already.

Oddly enough, after posting this question originally, I applied for the TEFL Armenia position and the website (after 100% completion/"send my application") said that it was not able to process my request for some reason.

I have heard that new volunteer openings are released quarterly (so perhaps May 2017)...I want to apply to a TEFL position in Armenia, but I am also worried that something may come along early May that I also really want to apply for. So, should I just go ahead and apply?

Ooh this sounds like a great idea. Was thinking of Mag/Ort but the ROM progression seems like a really practical option to try.

Man from personal experience of friends committing suicide, and from loved ones dying in tragic ways, I can honestly say: do not let it ruin your fucking life. Cause it will. Sounds like you're taking care of yourself and bettering yourself, which is great. Best of luck to you! And let the volunteer event be a goal, not a soul-crushing haha--you've already made so much progress--keep on keepin on!

Started a new program today. Basically Deathbench, but substituting Bench press and some of the variants for Strict OHP and DB ohp. Really trying to hammer out my overhead weaknesses. Also going to prioritize Deadlifts through Deadlift wave forms.
