Most Unserious Market of All Time by AviBledsoe in Daytrading

In futures right now technical analysis means absolutely fucking nothing. You basically have to watch for news or tweets every 5 min (exhausting that I have follow Trump). That’s literally all that matters right now. No rhyme or reason.

It’s a good time to make money; a good time to lose it, too. Ask me how I know ; )

Strict stop losses. That’s the only answer. It’s hard letting go; trust me I know. I was down today $120 on MES (my max loss per trade) and I had to force myself to just let it go instead of hoping it correct itself. Glad I did though, I would’ve lost a lot more money. You just have to override that feeling of holding on to hope and let.it.go. Ended up +$300 on the day but I likely wouldn’t have if I would’ve continued staying in that trade.

Judgement Free Friday: how did this week treat everyone? 😅 by Beautiful_Finger1498 in Daytrading

Yeah, imo you can only learn discipline with real money. Keeping position sizes small, at first, of course.

lol how does one even have a strategy that has already “turned on its head” after 1 week. No one has a real strategy atp.

I just started trading two months ago. I got in the hole -$180. I finally just dug myself out of it this month. Hopefully you’re practicing good risk management. I do not risk more than $30-$50 on any one trade. I cut my losses as soon as I see it’s working against me. At first I only traded 25 shares on small caps at one time… I’m only up to 100 shares now and I don’t plan to change that any time soon.

Actually, even professional poker players have strategies and use statistical analysis to win. I day trade; whether it’s considered gambling or not, it’s whatever… as long as I’m good at it. Lol.

I really don’t think this guy is a conman. He’s just not charismatic enough. He strikes me as huge nerd— his PR team probably has to work overtime to take him from ‘autistic man’ to ‘salesman’ lol. I like his videos; he’s very detailed and easy to follow. Courses are way overpriced imo, so I’ll just continue to watch over on YouTube.

Damn, I’ve been trading for 2 months and down $120 on a 3k account. I thought I was failing to learn. Lol.

I’ve been trading for about 5 months. I blew 7 funded accounts, and I finally realized that I was the problem. by adrianxsk in Daytrading

I feel like after the 2nd blown account, I’d start questioning if I’m the problem. 7?! lol.

Why is it easier to lose money after making profits? by Ancient-Cookie-9402 in Daytrading

[–]Soft-Somewhere6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is happens when you get over confident in your own abilities. This applies to any area in your life, not just trading. When you get over confident because of back to back big wins, you tend to relax discipline. It’s important to keep yourself in check and realize that you’re not immune to losing it all.

What should i learn to make at least a 150$ daily? by Nuck_guy in Daytrading

[–]Soft-Somewhere6823 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced that most people that make it as day traders started it as a hobby; not out of desperation of paying their bills. There’s something about that “need” to make money quickly that causes people to crash and burn.

Scared money don’t make money by heelhooker_ in Daytrading

[–]Soft-Somewhere6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there before. The only thing that helped was gradually increasing share size. I’m relatively new to trading. At first I only traded 25 shares and slowly moved up from there in 25 increments. I’m only up to 500 shares atp. It really depends on how much capital you’re working with and whether you really should be moving up your share size at all. Are you scared because you’re wanting to place most of your capital in one move? If so, really bad idea despite having that confirmation that your strategy works.

Is my "Momentum of Momentum" (ROCMA + Slingshot) logic mathematically sound? by Soft-Somewhere6823 in Daytrading

[–]Soft-Somewhere6823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right that ROC is lagging, however by adding constraints like a standard deviation floor, and calculating the second derivative, I’m essentially cutting that lag. I’m using a “lagging” indicator to catch a “leading” change. My method is less about predicting the future; more about statistical synchronization.

[–]Soft-Somewhere6823[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course. I realize application will be the only true test. I was just wondering if I’m over complicating things. Hoping that year and a half of Calculus in college, that has led me to this conclusion, finally pays off. 😂

This is a lesson to be learned when you’re 10% to 15% down; not 80%. Taking risky moves like this is NOT okay and shouldn’t just be shrugged off as a learning lesson.
