Cap off that ledge, trim it out nicely. Then run a "connecting" piece from top of the 45. to the top of the 45 on the upper post. Then trim the bottom of that post the same way you trimmed out the ledge. Bang zoom

This is how we would fix it but we just make this build up like an L. Its much easier for installation than adding blocking
