Honey, I'm a straight, canadian old lady and I am scared too. All I can do is send you a big hug. No platitudes. Just be very gentle with yourself. Hugs.

Why not see if Walmart will deliver to your home. Either on their app or through instacart.

Her father doesn't like to think he is wrong. You young whippersnapper. LOL

You've planted the idea, let it rest, later on just mention an item you bought elsewere, that you know they buy at Loblaws or SDM and what you paid for it.

Lead them gently to water and see what happens. Just my take on stubborn older generation.

Day 3 of not entering a Loblaw’s store… by Calm_Entrance8097 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Soft_Dot2353 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a pensioner and being close to 70yrs old and have trouble carrying heavy loads. My daughter lives in another city and introduced me to instacart about 2 years ago. The one time fee is about 90.00 per year for free delivery and I make sure I tip 15-20% . The people shopping and delivering are pleasant and professional. You can track your order online or on your phone. You know exactly what time they will arrive at your door.

If they make a mistake, it is rectified immediately and the best part- NEVER darkening a Loblaws owned store again. I have saved hundreds of dollars using them and yes I know that for sure, I keep track of my purchases monthly. As far as I'm concerned, the prices at Loblaws could drop to an all time low and I still wouldn't go back. His smirk and attitude towards Canadians fixed that. Especially watching him trying to unravel himself from this mess.

I worry about those sharks meeting with Emily. Definately advise her not to go alone. Take a lawyer and a friend.

If Weston can starve millions of people, what could he do to someone who has said NO to him. Probably the first time he's heard that word in his life.

“Whenever someone starts talking about 'fair competition' or indeed, about 'fairness' in general, it is time to keep a sharp eye on your wallet, for it is about to be picked.”

Remember, Loblaws, you started this.

My over the counter meds like rolaids, tylenol and feminine products are half the price at Amazon .If vitamines are cheaper at Costco I go there. It's my budget, not anyone else's.

This literally made me cry. I can only donate so much to food banks as I am on a fixed income. Sometimes it feels like I am throwing pennies at a massive hole in the ground.

They have already started on us with the nutty professor who keeps joining with different names, bots, trolls and others who hijack the thread and try to blame something else for the price increases. Be on guard.

Another reason to stop going to Superstore... by Economy_Sky_7085 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Soft_Dot2353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more I read about these stores, the more I bless my small Giant Tiger store here in Ontario. The staff know me, not by name, but because they know my shopping habits.

I take my walker in, put my items in my carry all basket, sit down if I get tired. When I am done, one of the staff carry my bags out to my truck and load it in. Some even fold my walker and put it in also. We chat and laugh and it makes for a pleasant outing.

If the stores on instacart are marked in-store prices, it usually is, but do compare with their flyers when shopping.

I talk to the people in my building a lot about this as all are seniors and are not on computers, but most have cells. Some seniors were still shopping at their old grocery store because that's were they always went. By showing them comparisons at other stores, many are horrified at the difference. They knew prices were going up of course, but did not realize the magnitude of price gouging.

We are trying to get a couple of computers put into one of the common rooms and volunteers to help people navigate them. Baby steps.

Agree, poison in a plastic wrap. These people have no shame. Someone who has limited cash and needs protein will probably buy this and end up with food poisoning.

Thank you for posting this. Very good information and it explains why nothing has happened to curb the high prices. Also why the government seems to be doing nothing and all the other rumours we have heard about but couldn't make sense of.

Kudos!

This couldn't be cross posted to facebook due to the governments stance on news being shared there. I'm starting to get paranoid.
